UEFI IA32 kernel 4.9 x86_64 fail 4.4 OK
FYI,
The following has been reported:
_ OK: Syslinux EFI_IA32 -> x86_64 Linux kernel 4.4.x
_ KO: Syslinux EFI_IA32 -> x86_64 Linux kernel >= 4.9.x
Note: Where Syslinux is failing to boot the kernel, grub2 is OK.
Considering other reports, I am _guessing_ that Syslinux is probably OK
with kernel 4.8.x too and that the failure starts with kernel 4...
