numerical differentiation in R? (for optim "SANN" parscale)
Dear R users, I am running a maximum likelihood model with optim. I chose the simulated annealing method (method="SANN"). SANN is not performing bad, but I guess it would be much more effecive if I could set the `parscale' parameter. The help sais: `parscale' A vector of scaling values for the parameters. Optimization is performed on `par/parscale' and these should be comparable in the sense that a unit change in any element produces about a...

Opieaccess file, is this normal?
Hi, I'm trying to setup one-time passwords on freebsd5.2.1 >From what I've read so far, if the user is present in opiekeys, the opieaccess file determines if the user (coming from a specific host or network) is allowed to use his unix password from this specific network. As my opieaccess file is empty and the default rule (as mentionned in the man file) is deny, I should not be

[PATCH v3 2/5] drm/virtio: use struct to pass params to virtio_gpu_object_create()
...tches will add more parameters to the struct. The plan is to use the struct for all object parameters. Drop unused "kernel" parameter for virtio_gpu_alloc_object(), it is unused and always false. Also drop "pinned" parameter. virtio-gpu doesn't shuffle around objects, so effecively they all are pinned anyway. Hardcode TTM_PL_FLAG_NO_EVICT so ttm knows. Doesn't change much for the moment as virtio-gpu supports TTM_PL_FLAG_TT only so there is no opportunity to move around objects. That'll probably change in the future though. Multple domains, same application, different CSS, some over-rides
I am building a site that will have several different branded versions of the same site in order to do some SEO coverage. e.g www.foo.com, www.foo.co.uk and www.bar.com There are many discussions on sub-domains but I would like to come up with a solution to support the following: 1. multiple domains supported as virtual hosts on Apache acting as a proxy where I anticipate Rewrites to do

Quotas and Win98 clients
Dear all, I've successfully setup a Samba 2.2.3a file server with quota support on a RedHat Linux 7.1 with Kernel 2.4.18-ac2. Win NT clients (NT, 2K, XP) works fine, and samba report the quota per user as disk capacity. But Win98/ME clients don't. Samba report the filesystem capacity, and even worse, users can bypass their quotas ! I solved the problem using a dfree script written in

Panel Data Analysis (PLM) - Fixed Effects - "cannot allocate vector of length"
Hello to all on the list, I'm trying to estimate a fixed effects model from a large (unbalanced) panel data set. I have no problems when using only an individual effect or only a time effect, but I get an error message when I try for a "twoways" effect. Here is some of the code: paneldata27 is the entire panel data set: > dim(paneldata27) [1] 1178831 8 >

[Acl-Devel] mask ACL
Hello Eric, I am taking Buck and the rsync mailing list into the CC. Buck is the author of the rsync patch, he may know more on that problem.
