pxelinux in Asus P55T2P4
...an Asus P55T2P4 from an Intel Etherexpress Pro card with PXE bootrom. I'm using pxelinux 2.04 (tried 2.05pre2 as well) with a Redhat 8.0 kernel (2.4.18) and ramdisk image (for pure testing purposes). The Mainboard I use is a P55T2P4, Rev. 2, newest Bios 0207, 80MB Ram, PCI VGA card and the EEPro. dhcp, tftp work fine, pxelinux loads the kernel and the ramdisk image, but decompression of the kernel crashes the system: ------------------------------ Loading vmlinuz Loading initrd.img Ready. Uncompressing Linux... crc error -- System halted ------------------------------ I ran memory and...

Packet mangling latency
Firstly... sorry to those of you on both the netfilter and lartc list who''ll end up with this message twice... I am trying to find out what kind of latency I can expect when dNAT''ing UDP packets on (probably) a mid-range P3 server, 32-bit 33MHz PCI bus with Intel EEPro NICs. It''ll most likely be running whatever the latest 2.4 kernel will be at the time, unless there are significant boosts in packet mangling performace in 2.6. Sorry that this is such vague set of specs, but this is just a vague idea at the moment. Any suggestions for hardware that wou...

bonding & vlan - kernel 2.4.18 (RHL7.3)
Hi, Hopefully this won''t be too off-topic (I''ve seen both bonding & vlan mentioned on the list, but not really together). I''ve tried to get bonding (2 x 100Mb EEPro, but will want to try on 1000BaseT) and vlans to work together, but without luck. I can get them working fine (seemingly at least - I didn''t tried bursting on the bonded port) individually. However, when I bond the ports together and then run vlans on top, it doesn''t seem to w...

[Bridge] Re: [2.4.22] bad interaction between e100 and bridge: BUG at dev.c:991!
Could the problem be that the e100 can do IP receive checksumming on the board, but the eepro driver doesn't enable it. When the board is doing checksum offload, then the csum field isn't set. Please try disabling receive checksumming on the e100 driver modprobe e100 XsumRX=0 If this is the problem, it exists both 2.4 and 2.6. On Wed, 27 Aug 2003 18:24:57 +0200 Hannes Schulz...

pxelinux hang: problem freeing memory?
trying to set up a IBM 4500R with pxelinux 1.67 with an Intel eepro(ish) NIC. Got DHCP (ISC 2.0) and atftpd working. pxelinux downloads the boot.msg, kernel and initrd, but when it tries to load the kernel we get: boot: Loading 7.1/vmlinuz............. Loading 7.1/initrd.img.............. ready. Failed to free base memory, sorry... [system hangs] I tried enablin...

Bad NICs (was Collision Lights go Crazy)
...several multicast packets (i.e. running an MBone server or something). Plus, those cards go through some serious testing since 1) Linus uses them at work and 2) a lot of Transmeta uses them at work. I have 2 machines (P90/24MB RAM and a K6-233/64MB RAM) at home connected on a 100mbps hub with the EEPro cards. They work like a charm and get very fast throughput. I haven't measured it because I'm limited by the disk drive. The P90 is still usable while sending/receiving a huge file provided I'm not hitting the disk much. > I just spent a number of > hours testing and troubleshoo...

write_unbuffered -- Connection reset by peer
...ers. All are running Gentoo Linux with 2.6.x kernels. The server is running 2.6.12-gentoo-r6 and my test client is running 2.6.11-gentoo-r9. I'm not really in a position to reboot any of these machines to test other kernel versions. The backup server is an old 450MHz Pentium with 100MBit Intel EEPro card while the clients are all much higher spec (Xeons, typically, with Intel E1000 Gigabit Ethernet). I'm running rsync version 2.6.0 at both ends (though have tested 2.6.6 with the same results). I'm using rsync in daemon mode at the backup server (no ssh involved) and rsync tends to di...

interface negotiation questions (slightly off-topic)
...39;ve been too busy to keep up with the samba list lately...) First off, if you're tired of messing with those stupid DOS utility disks to change the configuration of your NIC, you're in luck, Fred. Donald Becker's new site has a bunch of diagnostic and setup utilities for newer NICs (eepro, ne2k, tulip, vortex, etc). Go here to get them: http://www.scyld.com/diag/index.html Now on to the questions and stuff: I have a Dell PIII-500 with a 3COM 3c905c (Tornado) NIC, running RedHat 6.1, samba 2.05a (I know, I'm planning on upgrading samba real soon now...), apache, etc. I notic...

Small office setup/using analog lines w/ Asterisk
Hi, We recently tried installing Asterisk for a small office. We figured the safest way to go would be to buy from someone who sold equipment specifically for Asterisk and to use a consultant that they recommended. However ... it didn't turn out so great. Sound quality is terrible -- the echo is pretty bad, and there are popping noises, too. Callers say that people on the Asterisk end
