CentOS on Eee PC 1000H
Hi folks
Anybody running CentOS on Eee PC 1000H? In CentOS wiki[0] there is a
draft about Eee PC 900 from Fabian Arrotin. Does the same howto work for
Eee PC 1000H?
So far he writes:
> Waiting for an official way to host the necessary rpms ...
Where to download WiFi and NIC driver?

ASUS Eee R cookbook
Hi all,
Having seen a few messages regarding the ASUS Eee PC (p701) and R, and
then buying one and trying to get R installed on it, I thought there
might be a few people on the list who would appreciate a cookbook on how
to do it. It's a nice little piece of machinery, running Xandros 4 Linux
(seems to be compatible with Debian Etch) and set up fo...

[Asus Eee PC 900] as replacement for legacy BRI phone
Hello,
I own one of these netbooks Asus Eee PC 900, mine is running FreeBSD 7.0, and a
Linux based cellphone, the OpenMoko Freerunner.
Since some time I'm thinking in a replacement of my 'normal' BRI phone
at home and the two items mentioned above let me think that the
replacement should be UNIX based as well. The legacy BRI pho...

problem with length()
In the following, can anyone tell me why length(eee) returns 9? I
was expecting 15398, and when I try to add this vector to a data
frame with that many rows, it fails complaining that the vector is of
length 9. In what I thought was an identical situation with a
related dataset, the same code worked as expected.

nlm and "missing argument
Dear R Gurus,
I am having a little difficulty with nlm. I've searched the archives and
found nothing that tells me why this is occuring -- though there are
some slightly similar issues.
A simple example:
lev2<-function(aaa,bbb,ccc,ddd,eee){
res<-aaa+bbb+ccc+ddd+eee
res
}
nlm(lev2,p=c(32,4,5),ddd=45,eee=23)
Error in f(x, ...) : argument "bbb" is missing, with no default
Why is this occurring? I am running 2.6.1.
Is there something simple here that I am overlooking? I am trying to
take advantage of the "...&...

IAX2 client for "eee pc 1000"
What kind of IAX2 client will install/run on EEE PC 1000 (stock Linux software)?
I'll eventually replace this crippled Linux with something better but I don't time to play around with it as most divers and modules are still too new and
not fully available in all distros.

Upgrading R on my EEE PC netbook
I have been successfully been using R on my EEE PC for some while
now. Although it uses Xandros I have been able to install various
pieces of software by pretending that it was Debian etch. Johannes
was kind enough to continue providing binaries on CRAN for a while
but I think I am the only person still living in the past as CRAN
etch is cu...

Confused about versions of R and Debian
I have recently acquired an Asus EEE PC which runs a version of
Xandros which I believe to be a fork of Debian. I have been using R
under various versions of Windows for some years but this is my first
move into the world of Unix. I have installed Texlive from a CD and I
have successfully added a UK-based repository and installed...

R on EEE PC
Someone asked about R on the EEE PC. That was the second thing
I installed when I received mine (the first being the full KDE desktop).
I don't recall any issues with the installation. I used the standard debian
package (the native linux on the EEE is Xandros, a derivation of debian).
The caveat being that since Xandros isn...

Wine on Asus eee pc 900 running Xandros.
Hi.
I?m totally new to all that is Linux and so on.
But I really wan?t to learn more about this wonderful os.
I?m using an Asus eee pc 900 and it came preinstalled with Xandros.
Now I get a little confused on which version of wine (if any) will work on it.
I tried to search the site/forum and web but I haven?t found any good answer.
One more question. If wine does not support Xandros, can I then install an ubuntu version made f...

WoW crashes Wine
So I managed to install and get WoW running on my Eee PC 1000HD. However, the program will crash unexpectedly after 5-20 minutes. There doesn't seem to be a predictable occurrence that causes it to crash tho. I have been looking for answers but have found nothing so far.
I should clarify that it isnt a complete crash. Wine pops up an error ab...

but surely there is a better way!
Or is this the wrong technique?
More generally, is there a way to "unzip" a character vector along some
split marker, handling irregulatirites gracefully? For example, from
y<-c("aaa#bbb", "ccc#ddd", "eee","fff"),
strsplit(y,split="#") would produce
c(c("aaa","bbb"), c("ccc","ddd"), c("eee","fff")).
Is there a way to produce instead
c(c("aaa","ccc","eee"),c("bbb","ddd...
