RFC: Strong GC References in LLVM
Okay, so it sounds like it might actually be better to be even more low
level, call it "ExtendedBBInfo" or something, and rename what it provides
to be more clearly structural:
A. Inst * FirstIsGuaranteedToTransferExecutionToSuccessor(BB) (naming
bikeshed open on this one :P)
B. Inst * LastIsGuaranteedToTransferExecutionToSuccessor(BB)
C. Inst *FirstMayThrow(BB)
D. Inst *LastMayThrow(BB)
Most things want to know if a given inst is before or after these.
Since we have to touch the entire set of in...

...onnects to the unix side using a set of credentials that have
access to the user's unix-side files.
In addition to the clearcase user, there is also the clearcase
'albd' service that spawns off a number of service processes.
Rational tech support asserts that (some of) these processes
need to access the unix-side files using credentials that give
them the access rights of the clearcase administrative account.
(This account had different, and presumably broader rights
than does any specific user.)
This would mean that the nt host was connecting to the unix
host with two sets of crede...

...ions about where those early exits are. Any pass which does code motion would require this analysis. (This is essentially the principled version of our current hacks.)
This analysis can be lazy/incremental. Most passes only do “safe” speculation and code sinking without side effects. They don’t need to run the analysis.
Thanks Philip. I forgot to mention that LLVM passes historically have taken advantage of implicit extended basic blocks (ISel) and were never improved to handle general EBBs. It took years for loop opts to finally handle early exits well.

Getting at MakeOpenFile
Along the same lines as the last question - how can I get to functions
like MakeOpenFile via Win32API? It doesn''t seem to be exported by
msvcrt-ruby18.
Possible? Or am I out of luck?
