OpenSSH and pam_ncp_auth.so
I have seen in the archives that several people have tried to use this module with OpenSSH. Now that the LTSP project has moved to LDM with SSH tunnels in Edubuntu I wondered if the issue with ssh requiring a local account to already exist could be revisited? Even though I know that the opinion has been that the module is 'broken' because some people believe that PAM should be used purely for authentication this limitation is making it VERY hard for t...

Helper scripts fror installing apps in a multi user env
I'm a electronics student from macedonia, and this year we got ncomputing workstations (http://www.linuxtoday.com/it_management/2007111901126NWDPPB) in every classroom, loaded with edubuntu server 7.04. Cause my school depends of some technical apps for electrics & cad, i need to install them in wine. The problem is that there are 7 users on one sever hooked via ncomputing modems, wich requier copy-pasting the .wine dir to every users home directory, but when executing an app, wi...

Free NaturalReader 9.0 text-to-speech software won't work.
...WINE's Notepad but won't read highlighted text in any 64 bit or 32 bit Ubuntu 10.04 applications. When said text is selected and NaturalReader's play button is clicked, the text is de-selected and NR gives a 'no text selected' error message. I'm using the 64 bit version of Edubuntu 10.04 LTS with WINE 1.1.42 configured for Windows 2000 as per the tip from this now out of date Ubuntu Forums thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=790397 Has anyone here gotten NaturalReader to work properly in WINE? Thank you. John

To help the transition I have installed Office 2007 using Wine and all went well apart from not being able to activate / register the software. When I try to enter the activation co...

[PATCH 1/9] Partially fix --disable-erlang
From: Michael Scherer <misc at zarb.org> Without this, configure will always enable erlang, no matter what argument are passed. Now, we can disable it, even if configure still need the erlang compiler for some obscure reason. --- configure.ac | 10 ++++++---- 1 files changed, 6 insertions(+), 4 deletions(-) diff --git a/configure.ac b/configure.ac index 337a3ed..e0bed2f 100644 ---

Red Hat release info
Hi all, I''m looking at changing the operatingsystemrelease fact for Red Hat. Linux currently just uses the kernel release as the operating system release, but I''ve got a client who wants the release to have both the specific distro (e.g., AS or EL) and the release (e.g., 3 or 4). Will this particularly annoy anyone? Anyone want to help make the release string work on
