NT domain logon questions
...class=1 ecode=5 error string = Permission denied So I guess my only question at the moment would be, "is the above normal behavior?" Hopefully we'll have our logs a little more together soon. Thanks for any suggestions anyone might have... we're so close... yet so far... - edan

Multiple servers from single /usr/local
Dear Samba Users, In the past, with Samba 1.9.18p10, I have handled running several Sun SPARC/Solaris server boxes that share the same /usr/local/samba filesystem. I did this by putting different configuration files in /usr/local/samba/lib. For example: smb.conf.host1, smb.conf.host2, etc. But, now with Samba-2.0.0, it didn't seem to work. My initial questions are: 1) There are now files

Intermittent logon failures
...Windows 95 box says "The network could not validate you. Seek fulfillment elsewhere." It started working again before I was able to get a better debug log on it. I'm going to add a little code in user_ok() to get some more info when it does. Any ideas anyone? Anyone? Bueller? - edan

(wtmp) Suggestion to samba
...gh, sessreg doesn't modify utmpx/wtmpx, which is a bummer for OS's like Solaris 2. rpc.rusersd and finger both look at utmpx, not utmp, like "w" does. I haven't decided whether to hack up sessreg or to use something else, but that's a different story. :) Good luck. - edan

...All clients are Win95, but there may be some other weirdos in the same collision domains. Some tidbits of the smb.conf that might be revealing: os level = 50 security = user domain master = yes domain logons = yes wins proxy = yes wins support = yes Thanks in advance. - edan

Linux passwd authentication through NT
Hello, I would like to authenticate Linux' logins by asking a local NT server whether the supplied login id and the corresponding password match. Is there a way to do this ? I.e. is there a PAM module or any other utility that would allow me to do this from a script ? (i.e. a script like $ correct_NT_passwd _supplied_username_ _supplied_passwd_ that would return 0 if they match

Samba over leased line
We have two Class C nets (192.168.1.0/24) and 192.168.2.0/24). These nets are connected through a pair of router (BinTec) via ISDN. The router have a short hold mode, i.e. cancels the line if no packets are to be received or transmitted. Recently we installed one Samba Server in a subnet. In the other subnet are several clients, which print to the samba-server (via the ISDN link). We have not much

TRANS.TBL files on Win95 fileserver
I have a small LAN in my basement, with my PC running RH5 Linux and a Win95 PC connected by Samba. Everything works fine, but when I smbmount a CD (burned with xcdroast) from the Linux box (CD is in the Win95 machine) I do not get the proper filenames. All files are uppercase, and the TRANS.TBL files appear to be ignored. I have tried playing with name mangling, but it didn't help. Is this a
