luks ecrypted storage poll - lvm - possible?
hi everyone, do we get to encrypt lvm pools in/with libvirt? I'm on Centos 7.x but see mention of it, not even on the net. Or in other words - can guests(lxc I'm thinking of) run off ecrypted lvm where at least the part when dev gets luksOpened is taken care of by libvirt? many thanks, L.

SRTP with accounts in mysql database
...on=yes' into sip.conf for a peer to use SRTP. I have all the account information in a mysql database in a table called `sippeers` asterisk uses. The table doesn't seem to have a column for this option. How can I specify it; where in the database do I put it? Can I just add a column `ecryption` and put 'yes' (or no) into it? Samba 3 Beta and Encryption Issues
...e new beta release of Samba. I installed it onto a test bay. One machine is Redhat 7.3, one is XP. For our purposes, the clients need to have encryption turned off (IE: we enabled cleartext passwords). With Samba 2.2.7, I had PDC support, including roving profiles and login scripts working when ecryption was turned on, both server-side and client-side. Now, with the new beta release, I have the exact same connectivity level working, only with encryption turned on server side, but turned OFF client side. As somebody else posted - is this a bug, or a feature? :) Our ideal solution would be to...

...e on the subject and have the cipher routines both debugged and optimized. I know that some of the current cipher code was taken from SSLeay but since OpenSSL is de facto SSLeay successor, it might give tinc more flexibility and allow the user to choose between weaker/faster or stronger/slower ecryption schemes. Using filter in an imapsieve script?
...ollowing: - if save encrypted to same mailbox as original message only the original message can be seen in TB. Even restart TB does not change anything. But the enc message is in Sent on server, just TB does **never** show it - if I save the encrypted message to another mailbox then I can see the ecrypted msg in TB and the original msg in Sent Do you think that the problem could be solved by using another client instead of TB? Is there a way around this issue on serverside? Like for example use pipe? Or does pipe store the original message as well on server? Cheers tobi

OpenSSH private key encryption: time for AES?
...S-EDE3-CBC,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX $ According to NIST[1][2], a minimum of 112-bit symmetric / 2048-bit asymmetric keystrength is recommended for protection up until about 2030. For protection beyond 2030, or for the paranoid, larger keysizes are recommended. Other recommendations (e.g., those of ECRYPT) vary in how long 112/2048-bit encryption should last. With that in mind ... how can i encrypt my 4096-bit SSH RSA keypair with something like AES-128, AES-256, or Twofish instead of 3DES and still use it with OpenSSH? Can ssh-add read (unencrypted) key data from stdin? ____________________ [1]...

Hi, I want to do plain auth against my password file. However it has been difficult to find a proper docs and all i have found reuqieres recompiling or patching. I am not interested in ecrypted communication with a certificate. Just plain auth. My mailserver should allow some users that will be traveling to send mail using our server and we don't know what IP address they will have. thanks, -- ------------------------------------------- Erick Perez Linux User 376588 http://coun...

Problem accessing protected resources from any platform
...set up Samba v2.2.8a on a linux host (RedHat Linux 8.0) for my workgroup. My other hosts in the workgroup are Windows 2000 and Windows XP hosts and a 3COM firewall. All directories that are not "protected" can be accessed by all users. The workgroup uses encrypted passwords (using non ecrypted passwords does not solve the problem). Samba is configured to synchronize the samba and linux passwords. Samba is configured to be the WINS server. The home directory (configured using the [homes] section in smb.conf) of none of the users can be accessed from any of the hosts, including the li...

Forcing tinc to use aes-128 cipher
..._setup.c I found a spot where EVP_get_cipherbyname was being called, and that call is being skipped, no matter what I have in the tinc.conf file. So, I changed the default a few lines down where myself->connection->cipher = EVP_bf_cbc(); to EVP_aes_128_cbc(); and I am still not getting aes ecryption. Is there any light you can shine on my problem? Thanks, Jon Howard tinc@alteredrurality.com

[Bug 1806] New: SSH Client - Militant Identity File Permission Potentially Increases Security Risk
...ns are "too open" with no option or bypass provided to the user. This can potentially undermine the client's own goal of protecting keys under some circumstances such as the one posted here: http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?t=31129 My circumstance is similar in that I have an ecrypted USB key with underlying VFAT filesystem which is used for securely storing all my encryption keys. It is sometimes used under a guest account on systems with a default install to which I do not have root access. The refusal of the client to connect using this secured file forces me to copy it t...

samba creating keytabs... ( possible bug, can someone confirm this )
Hm instresting way. Whats the difference in createing the HTTP/spn with net ads or samba tool ( besides de found bug ) I'll go try this out. You remember the "squid" spn/upn problem, this solved it also. The squid kerberos group plugin now correctly detects the HTTP spn. Thanks for trying out. Samba3 Win95 interoperability
Greetings, I am trying to get samba3 to work well with W95. The windows 95 box can see the samba server, but cannot authenticate (claims wrong password) to get to any shares. I know the smbpasswd is good as I can authenticate and get to the shares using the same account and password on a W2000 machine. I suspect I am doing something wrong in the [global] section of the samba server. Would
