New package: eba
I have recently uploaded a new package to CRAN called eba,
which stands for elimination-by-aspects models.
It allows for fitting and testing probabilistic choice models,
especially the BTL model (Bradley & Terry, 1952; Luce, 1959),
elimination-by-aspects (EBA) models (Tversky, 1972), and
preference tree (Pretree) models (Tversky & Sattath, 1979).
I believe that the functions in this

updated package eba 1.4-0
Dear all,
There is an updated version of the eba package for
elimination-by-aspects (EBA) choice models available on CRAN.
It features new functions for extracting and plotting
the residuals, for testing hypotheses on the parameters
(wald.test), and for comparing sub-samples (group.test).
The documentation has also been updated.
Any feedback is welcome.
Happy modeling!

error in random forest
Hi,
I get the following error when I try to predict the probabilities of a
test sample:
Error in predict.randomForest(fit.EBA.OM.rf.50, x.OM, type = "prob") :
New factor levels not present in the training data
I have about 630 predictor variables in the dataset x.OM (25 factor
variables and the remaining are continuous variables). Any ideas on
how to trace it?
Thank you,

Fitting a choice model (Bradley-Terry generalization)
I have some data I would like to model which involves choice of food by
dung beetles.
There are a number of experiments where in each case, there are five
choices. Overall there are more than 5 different foods being compared
(including a placebo) and different experiments use different comparisons.
The problem is a generalization of Bradley-Terry but it differs from
some generalizations in

The credentials supplied conflict with an existing set of credentials
I have a different Unix userid for each project I'm working on, so I need to
provide a different userid/password combination for each drive I map to my NT

"Connect As" box and hit "OK", I get the message:

Rating competitors
I am looking for hints on how to estimate ratings for competitors
in an ongoing pairwise competition using R... my particular area of
interest being the game of Go, but the idea of identifying ratings
(on a continuous scale) rather than relative rankings seems easily
generalized to other competitions so I thought someone might be
studying something related already.
I presume the rating of a

(no subject)
Hello,
I am trying to estimate a choice model with varying choice set for each
individual.
I would like to fit different kinds of model (logit ,nested logit,
probit...).
So far I have found that package *mnp* allows me to estimate a probit model
with varying choice set.
But for estimation of a logit model, I have only found function *multinom*
of package *nnet* which does not seem to allow for

Problem in loading all packages all at once
Hi All
Please see the Rprofile file which i have modified as follows and after
that when I start R then I see that R says to me "TRUE" for all the
packages implying that all loaded at once.
But when i try to use commands as simple as help("lm"), it doesnt work nor
any of the menu "Packages" is not working.
Although the regression using lm ( Y ~ X ) is working

How are alternate superblocks repaired?
Hi,
Using dumpe2fs I have been able to determine that all of my alternate ext3 superblocks are corrupted (not clean), and only the primary superblock is valid, i.e. mount works and the ordered journal is applied. When the primary superblock gets flakey, i.e. the ext_attr Filesystem feature goes missing - not sure why this occurs. At this point, the mount does not apply the journal using the
