How to stop access to a share in the samba server?
Hi
I am mouving from PC-NFS to SAMBA and thare are some thinks that I would
like to see in SAMBA.
In NFS, when I do not want a share to be accessible, I just use the
command: unshare /shared/directory
This make the /shared/directory imediataly not accessible. Even by some one
already using it!
I?m using SAMBA 1.9.18p10 in a SUN Solaris 2.5 and i try to change

Issues with de-installation...
Hi,
I have a system running FC2 with SAMBA-3.0.10-1.fc2 installed on it. I
tried de-installing it, but it failed as follows:
[root@cobra /]# rpm -e samba
error: Failed dependencies:
samba is needed by (installed)
system-config-samba-1.2.22-0.fc2.1
samba = 0:3.0.10 is needed by (installed)
samba-swat-3.0.10-1.fc2
Can anyone suggest how I could go about de-installing the kit?

Does irqbalance actually do anything?
I've got several SMP machines, some running CentOS 4.3 and some running
Fedora Core 4. All machine are kept fully updated. A few are
Pentium3-based and a few are Pentium4-based. They are all running the
irqbalance daemon.
The distribution of interrupts across CPUs is indeed kept balanced, yet
even after months of uptime ps shows no CPU use whatsoever by irqbalance.

Two samba servers running in the same network
Hi all!
I have a little doubt, and hope that someone can answer me...
Let's take the example.
I have one master samba, where all my users logs in.
And how can I solve the problem if there is a case like that:
Two samba servers.
One use called "johndoe"
One is the master, the other server is a kind of slave...
The user johndoe will try to athenticate on the master samba server.

Manually authenticate single user?
....
Ive several linux machines using samba and winbind to share on an Active
Directory domain. Recently I was asked to create two distinct new user
groups specifically for two upcoming projects. Until these projects
become active there are only two guys doing pre-production on them - one
guy for each project. So I created the two security groups in active
directory and placed the two workers in each's relevant group.
Over to the linux machines:
"getent group" shows the two new groups and their (lone) members.
However I tried to set group permissions on a directory and they onl...
