CentOS5 running very slowly on a core 2 duo with 4 GB RAM
Hi, I've installed CentOS5.2 on an INTEL Core 2 Duo (Intel(R) Core(TM)2
Duo CPU E6550 @ 2.33GHz), 4 GB RAM (MemTotal: 4072176 kB) and
my system gets sevarel minutes to startup, specially on udev daemon.
Once the system is UP, every command I run gets 100% CPU and every is
very slowly at the point yum -y update never ends. The system installed
by default this kernel 2.6.18-53.e...

how to enable VT
Hi,
I have a Dell opt 755 machine and installed Xen 3.3.1. The CPU is core
2 due E6550, which as the vmx flag. However, when I reboot the machine
to xen 3.3.1. I can not find vmx in the /proc/cpuinfo. But vms appears
in the kernel 2.6.29 (not xen kernel).
Can anyone help on how to enable vt in this machine?
Thanks.
Steven

Libvirt profiling
Hi
For a school project I am researching performance issues when using libvirt
to run very large numbers of virtual machines.
My experiments indicate that having more CPU cores negatively impacts the
performance. A simple desktop with an Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 performs
better than a server with a 48 core AMD CPU. Limiting the cores used
through 'cputune' improves performance on the server. If anyone has got any
explanations for this, it would be greatly appreciated.
Further on I would like to profile the slowdowns, but I am not sure how to

[LLVMdev] Problem running JITted functions from x86_64 inside a dynamic library?
Hi,
I found that on my system:
$ uname -a
Linux tintoretto 2.6.23.8cz #1 SMP Fri Nov 23 17:07:39 CET 2007 x86_64
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6550 @ 2.33GHz GNU/Linux
$ cat /etc/redhat-release
Mandriva Linux release 2008.0 (Official) for x86_64
I can't execute functions Jitted by LLVM that call back functions in
the main program, if the jit is run from a .so library.
I replaced LLVM with an hand made jit, and after tinkering with it, I...

Unable to Configure Xen Dom 0 in Jeremy''s PVOPS Kernel
Hi All,
I followed the instructions here at
http://bderzhavets.wordpress.com/2009/06/10/setup-fedora-11-pv-domu-at-xen-3-4-1-dom0-kernel-2-6-30-rc6-tip-on-top-of-fedora-11/
However, when I do a "make menuconfig", I cannot see any XEN related
configuration options. What am I missing?
Thank you.
