CentOS on HP EliteBook 6930 or Dell Latitude e6400
Hello,
I'm considering the HP EliteBook 6930 or the Dell Latitude e6400
notebooks for CentOS. I'm planning on using these in a situation in
which they are always on, and I want low power and low noise and high
reliability.
HP claims up to 24 hours battery power and Dell up to 19 hours. I figure
this can bridge the gap for most power outages in my neighborhood....

I have looked in tons of docs for the problem, but i never see a fix.

PXELINUX LocalBoot 0 fail; hunting for bug
Recently, I decided to pull out a new model laptop for testing related
to my job at work. Dell Latitiude E6400, BIOS A14. Normally I have
it set to boot CD, USB, Net, then HDD and noticed that with
PXELINUX-4.02 and 'LOCALBOOT 0', it hung on me before leaving the PXE
stack. I then tried 3.86 and it worked. 4.00 and 4.01 both hung when
I tested them as well. Changing to 'LOCALBOOT -1' or...

[PATCH][git-pull] memdisk/dskprobe.c
...s an additional check
in the third probe and expands/reorders the debug output. At this
time, it appears to resolve the MEMDISK issues that Jason Vasquez
first noticed.
The additional check in the third probe is to follow up INT13h AH15h
with INT13h AH01h and examine CF and AH. The Dell Latitude E6400
appears to not ever set CF (like it should) with either of these two
BIOS calls. I felt that attempting to compare the initial to returned
registers around AH15h might not yield positive results on other
systems (the results of CX and DX when the drive is not a "hard drive"
type seems li...

(semi-) rugged laptop running CentOS 5?
We're looking for a laptop to run in a 10,000', cold, occasionally wet
environment, and it needs to run CentOS 5. Perhaps something like the
Dell Latitude E6400 ATG? There's a reference to a minor trackball bug
for the 6400 under CentOS 5 (http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=4192)
but otherwise it sounds like the x86_64 version should run on it.
Ideally the system would use a SSD too. Any suggestions?

A program under WINE claims I don't have enough memory
...ta & graph editing software)
under Ubuntu 9.10.
Installation was fine and I can read files and edit them, but as I try to
save the simplest thing (which takes less than a MB) the program claims I
have no disk space (I do have more than 10GB free).
I have a 64GB solid-state hard drive on my Dell E6400 laptop.
This problem persists no matter where I try to save (my home folder, the
WINE C: folder etc.).
The installation was when WINE was on WinXP mode but I tried to change it to
Win98 after but didn't help (should it make a difference?)
I'd appreciate anyone's comments on this one,

PXELinux and Boot Disk Failure on Dell Optiplex 740
...740 computers,
and any disk image that we try to boot with PXE Linux comes up with a
Boot Disk Failure for two images or Cannot Load Kernel error for Dell
Diagnostics. The error only appears to occurs on the Optiplex 740
model. I've tested PXE Linux and our boot disk images with Dell
Latitude E6400 and Dell Optiplex GX620s, and they were able to boot the
images successfully.
This issue started today - as of Friday, we did not experience this
issue with the Optiplex 740.
Our version of PXELinux and Memdisk is 3.72. Our TFTP server is TFTPD

Dell HSPA 5530 - Built-in 3G - Not detected
...3G Mobile Device is working.
I have tried loading the bcm43xx modules after reading several posts on
Google but not able to get this working at all.
I have run CentOS on my servers for a while now and love it. Just this
last bit that holds me back from going fullt to CentOS.
My laptop is a Dell E6400 and I have tried with both x86 and x86_64
without luck.
Has anyone else got this working or have any clues to the steps I can take
to get closer to a working solution?

We have several large projects will use ORACLE 10Gr2

ORACLE) VS 64 bits?
Thanks.

Questions re PXELINUX
I have been using PXELINUX for a while and appreciate all you guys are doing!
I have a couple of questions re PXELINUX:
1. I am experiencing problems with the LOCALBOOT statement on an IBM x3650. IBM mentions the following:
http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/docdisplay?lndocid=MIGR-5084755
I am using PXELINUX 4.04. Is this problem still attributed to some bug in PXELINUX? Right now I

DELL E6510 pxelinux issues
Hello,
I have a problem with our DELL E6510 notebooks (BIOS version A05):
1. After the update from syslinux-3.71 to 4.02 LOCALBOOT no longer
works. I've read
<http://www.syslinux.org/wiki/index.php/Hardware_Compatibility#LOCALBOOT_on_Dell_Latitude_E6400>
and neither version works. The behavior differs between the laptop
rebooting automatically and getting stuck.
I checked all versions up to 6.02, which finally makes it work again

[Bug 44608] New: Freeze after Fn-F8 - Next boots: screen remains off after suspend/resume

Severity: normal

On my DELL Latitude E6400 laptop, when I type Fn-F8, the machine almost
completely freezes: the mouse pointer no longer moves, I can no longer connect
to the machine by SSH, and I can no longer control the screen brightness;
however I can still control the keyboard backlight. Once this is done, after
the following reboots,...
