dovecot and postfix with tls and dovecot sasl issues for smtp clients
...y ssl cert
This is running on CentOS 5.2 with latest Atrpms for Dovecot as of this
weekend.
# rpm -qa | grep dovecot
dovecot-sieve-1.1.5-8.el5
dovecot-1.1.4-0_81.el5
With assistance from Rainer Frey (Inxmail GmbH), I am able to successfully
use client ssl certs for imap access on both my Nokia e61i and Thunderbird
2.0.0.17, problem now is dovecot sasl and postfix smtp authentication.
Using the same self created CA that generates and certifies the ssl client
certs in Postfix and using Dovecot SASL, I always get client didn't send
proper ssl cert when trying to do a tls based smtp conne...

Cingular/ATT killing my IMAP/POP connections with bad TCP FIN packets?
...ed via Cingular/ATT wireless, specifically
via the wap.cingular access point. This server is not firewall, either
via software or hardware and sits on a fully routable internet IP
address. A few days after we made the transition from UW-IMAP to
Dovecot, I could no longer connect from my Nokia E61i to our server
(IMAP w/ SSL, port 993). Until today, I just assumed I did something to
anger the Nokia gods and just did without mobile email.
Today, someone walked in with an iPhone and could only connect to our
server via wifi connections, not over Cingular/ATT's EDGE network. When
I lo...

Asterisk w/ Nokia "e" Series Handsets
Anyone using Nokia "E" Series handsets with Asterisk? I'm trying to
deploy some e71's and am having an issue. I can get a single handset
working, but when I try to create a SIP profile on the second phone, it
won't allow me to save the profile, saying that devices in the same
"realm" must have identical username and password.

Anyone have a workaround for this

Theora player for Nokia Series 60
I've made a start writing a Theora player for Series 60 phones (mostly Nokia phones, but some Samsung and Sony Ericsson ones too).
Download here:
http://symbianoggplay.sourceforge.net/OgvPlay/OgvPlay_010.zip
I've been using Big Buck Bunny, Elephants Dream and a few other ogv files for testing. I've uploaded 320x180 versions of those here:

Wireless VOIP Keysets? Recommendations?
Any Recommendations on a "Good" Wireless Voip Keyset that works well with Asterisk?
I would prefer one that is IAX2 as it works better behind a Nat'd Firewall..
But I am reaching out to you guys as you all would know what would work the best :-)

Dual-home Wifi/GSM phones for North America
So, for the hotel project, what was the conclusion? I don't remember
seeing a summary.
And were any of the phones combination Wifi/GSM? Like a Nokia E70 or E61i?
I've been looking for such a phone to use myself, but so far haven't
found one that I liked. Common flaws were:
* poor standby time
* lousy interface for doing complex configurations (esp. certificate
management)
* poor external provisioning documentation or requiring proprietary (and...

Bunch of set-up/usage questions (SLA, MWI, SMS proxy's, crypto, Fax, etc)
...) my PSTN service provider that I have SIP trunking to doesn't provide
SMS service (yet or possibly ever)--is there a way to shop-out SMS for
my associated numbers from someone else? I eventually hope to have a
cell phone with dataplan only that I then do SIP-over-UMTS (like a Nokia
E70 or E61i, for instance)... if I'm moving towards having a single
number, then I figure text messaging should work regardless of the
device I'm using (softphone on a laptop, VoWifi handset, or POE
hardphone). Any service/any device, right? That's what it's all about.

OT: Recommendation for EDGE/3GPP SIP phone?
I'm looking to ditch my GSM phone with Cingular and provide my own
calling services with Asterisk hanging my phone off the Edge or 3GPP
network... Luckily, I have the option (through my employer) of getting
a data-only plan.
My question is, other than the Nokia E61i or E70, what phones will do
SIP-over-EDGE or SIP-over-3GPP? The iPhone doesn't yet have a SIP
client, and it's EDGE-only.
There are probably knowledgeable folks out there that have tested/used
such devices.
Bonus points for one that's WIFI capable (I don't think my data plan i...
