Using ssd disks for kvm guests
Hi all,
Recently I have acquired a supermicro e200-8d micro server to use it as my
homelab. It is equipped with two ssd disks.
My idea is to install several kvm guests on it, but I have some doubts
about what type of filesystem (ext4 or xfs?) or block to use (lvm).
Recommendations? Do I need to accomplish some type of running if I choose
to us...

Deliver limit based of number of destination recipients and size of mails, any option to do that?
...da
(dovecot) with 350 users.
I have the problem that in this christmas the employees are sending some
big files (mainly powerpoints files) to a lot of recipients, because of
that the server get a lot of charge (is a Xeon quad core 5405 with 4GB
of Ram), i have four disks in Raid 5 configuration (HP E200 controller,
not very fast)
Is there any option to limit this type of delivery, the total size of
the mails delivered to each user (total recipients * size of mail), in
dovecot deliver.
I don't want to limit the concurrent delivery more lower than 350
recipients and the max size of the mail we c...

bad I/O performance with HP Smart Array RAID
Hi all,
I discovered lately that two of my XEN servers suffer from a really
bad disk throughput - in domU as well as in dom0. All of them run
Debian/Etch, Kernel 2.6.18-6-xen (orig. Debian) with XEN 3.2 (backported).
The software versions seem to be ok for most machines:
Lenovo A57 with S-ATA and (E8200, VT enabled): up to 90MB/s
Shuttle, FB61 based, ATA-Disk (Celeron, no VT): up to

6 node cluster with unexplained reboots
We just installed a new cluster with 6 HP DL380g5, dual single port Qlogic 24xx HBAs connected via two HP 4/16 Storageworks switches to a 3Par S400. We are using the 3Par recommended config for the Qlogic driver and device-mapper-multipath giving us 4 paths to the SAN. We do see some SCSI errors where DM-MP is failing a path after get a 0x2000 error from the SAN controller, but the path gets puts

Xen 3.3.1 Windows HVM Disk I/O -> domU and dom0 hangs
Hi,
we are currently working on getting windows working on your xen servers.
but we are facing a severe problem where dom0 and all domus hang for
1-5 seconds from time to time.
we think it is probably because of disk i/o, because top sometimes
says 100% wa (waiting on io) during the hang.
dom0 has cpu 0 for exclusive use and the windows vms use cpu 1 to 7.
should we give dom0 more than once

dm-multipath use
Are folks in the Centos community succesfully using device-mapper-multipath?
I am looking to deploy it for error handling on our iSCSI setup but there
seems to be little traffic about this package on the Centos forums, as far
as I can tell, and there seems to be a number of small issues based on my
reading the dm-multipath developer lists and related resources.

Another node is heartbeating in our slot! errors with LUN removal/addition
Greetings,
Last night I manually unpresented and deleted a LUN (a SAN snapshot)
that was presented to one node in a four node RAC environment running
OCFS2 v1.4.1-1. The system then rebooted with the following error:

Heartbeat write timeout to device dm-24 after 120000 milliseconds
