[FORGED] About error bars on barplots
...nd the mailing list software stripped out the
figure. *Do* learn to keep things simple. _Attach_ figures as *.pdf
files, for instance.
That being said, to answer your question, my advice (and that of many
others) is: DON'T. Error bars on boxplots (such plots are sometimes
known as "dynamite plots" or "detonator plots") are considered by the
cognoscenti to be abominations.

Suggestion: barplot function
Hello developers folks!
First, congratulations for the wonderful work with R.
For science, barplots with error bars are very important. We were
wondering that is so easy to use the boxplot function:
boxplot(Spores~treatment, col=treatment_colors)
But there is no such function for barplots with standard deviation or
standard error. It becomes a "journey" to plot a simple graph (e.g.

Labeling barplot bars by multiple factors
I want to plot quantitative data as a function of three two-level factors.
How do I group the bars on a barplot by level through labeling and spacing?
Here <http://www.thomaslevine.org/sample_multiple-factor_barplot.png>'s what
I'm thinking of. Also, I'm pretty sure that I want a barplot, but there may
be something better.

Plot means with error bars - A novice needs help
Hello,
I'd appreciate a suggestion on how to construct plots (barplots?) that use
means on the Y axis instead of density/count. I'd also like to use groups
and plot error or confidence interval bars on these graphs. I know this is a
read the manual situation. I'd appreciate help with what to read, or your
benevolence with some sample code.
I've looked at lattice and gplots2, but

...lot2() function in the gplots package. You provide
your own bar lengths. Regardless of their merits, barplots are a common
graphing mechanism used by my scientific colleagues to convey their
data, and I don't see that changing any time soon. The one thing that
is even less forgivable than dynamite plots is bars with no dispersion
indication at all. Too bad barplot2() isn't the default.

About error bars on barplots
Hi R users,
I have a question about adding uncertainty bars to stacked bar plots.

I use the code below:

[OT] (newbie alert) - home DV video and Premiere?
...is one possibility. Another is to make a VCD.
This makes use of an MPEG-1 program stream, which just about everything
known to man supports. Its 1x bitrate makes it very suitable for fitting
your 80 mins of video onto an 80 min CDR. But on the downside, resolution
and video quality are not exactly dynamite. The advantage is, again, that
everything supports it - even most DVD players. So you can share your video
with your friends who don't have computers, or whose computers don't quite
have enough computrons to handle DivX decoding.
I use TMPGenc for VCD and SVCD - available at www.tmpgenc.com...

How to include CI in a grouped barplot?
Hello everyone!
I need to include the confidence interval bar in a grouped barplot. I've
found some options on the web, but none of them solved my problem.
The question is: my barplot was created using vectors for each pair of bar
and them combining them using cbind.
I mean:
a=c(10,15)
b=c(20,24)
c=c(21,23) ...
hei=cbind(a,b,c)
graph1=barplot(hei, beside=T,...)
I've tried to include

auditing/closecmd/smbwebstatus patch updates
I'd like to take a moment to thank the samba team for a painless upgrade
from 2.0.2/3 to 2.0.4. configure, make, stop, install, start. It was a
joy. Woo woo!
I've updated for 2.0.4 the patches for my auditing system, the close
command parameter and smbwebstatus.
Everything should be accessible at http://www.reac.com/samba/
