Win95 & Samba 1st timer
Can anyone help us... We're Samba ist Timers... We're trying out a Linux machine as a feasability study. We're running a copy of SuSE 6.1 Linux on a DX4/100 and trying to get Samba up asd running. As far as I can tell it's all ok, but I can't ping anything from the Linux box and Win95 / NT workstation can't see Linux. The DX4 has a 3Com509B NIC, and as for as I can tell is registering on the hub. We also run HP-UX systems and Linux ca...

I am trying to generate a set of random numbers that fulfill the following constraints: X1 + X2 + X3 + X4 = 1 aX1 + bX2 + cX3 + dX4 = n where a, b, c, d, and n are known. Any function to do this? Thanks, -Ala' [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Several basic doubts
I have a connection cablemodem (down 1024kbit up 256 kbit) that spreads Internet to a LAN of 4 PC. Router-firewall is one 486 DX4 100 96 MB RAM that runs a Debian Sarge (kernel 2,4,25), that does NOT serve nor squid, nor samba, nor smtp, etc.... single do routing-firewalling. I am something confused by opinions and "presumed" manual and howto that I have read and have confused I more... Then I ask to them you:...

A distro around Shorewall
Hi all, Currently at work we use a commercial product called "Gnatbox", which, I believe, is a BSD derivative running on a floppy disk. They have a pretty UI and all, but I''d feel much safer/happier with a GNU/Linux box and Shorewall doing the same thing. In fact, I''m doing something very close to this at home using Openwrt and Shorewall on my WRT54G router, but I

Decoder speed: Test on slow machine
Hello everybody, today I had some time to test PeterĀ“s decoding plugin on a very slow machine. My setup: - Pentium "classic" @ 50 MHz (underclocked!) - Mainboard with Mercury Chipset (I think) - CD-ROM and HDD in PIO-Mode (CPU intensive) - MAD16 Soundcard (ISA slot, CPU intensive) - Win95B, Winamp 2.76, Decoder Plugin 1.16 (RC 2) The hardware setup is something like the

Vorbis on Legacy hardware
I'm currently in the process of making a linux distro made specifically to run on legacy hardware. My test system is a compaq 486/33. I was wondering if anyone has tried playing ogg vorbis on a system this old. Does it play without skipping or anything? If so, are there any really small and efficient media players that would run on this kind of hardware? If that doesn't work I

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list. I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without modifications. How did I try it? Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock ) Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee prep-out.log The build failed at the end: Processing files: kernel-xenU-devel-2.6.9-67.0.20.EL Checking
