My backup script split filesystem dumps to files with size of 4,37 GB (4 588 544 kB). It's just an optimal size to fill out DVDs. At this moment I have to burn them from windows via smb-link becuase I didn't manage to do this task from FreeBSD console due to 2GB/4GB filesize restrictions (growisofs). I'm using freeware CDBurnerXP to burn my backups (ISO9660/UDF/Joliet), and they mount without problems on my FreeB...

Just finished downloading the DVD with bittorrent. Ended up with two iso files (1 of 2 and 2 of 2). sha1sum checks out on both. This is the first time I've encountered two DVDs. Will the install politely ask for DVD #2 when it is time?

Hi I have a question How do i access a subdirectory of a windows share using smbclient? The problem is that i have a windows folder \\192.168.1.33\dvds shared in a windows machine but i want a direct access with smbclient from a linux machine to the folder \\192.168.1.33\dvds\examples. Hello Group, I am trying to build one VMware VM for 5.7 centos. However, there are two DVDs. And all vms I have build so far are confined in one iso. I have some DVD with AVI files I burn some time ago (and the files were checked and the DVD are fine), and curiously only the 3 or 4 first files were recognized as AVI files, but the rest not!. I just bought an HP DVD Writer 1040r (as identified by k3b), an external USB-connected CD/DVD burner. The drive gets assigned /dev/scd0. I can burn CDs and DVDs, read from CDs and DVDs, boot from DVDs (and, I assume, CDs) but have been unable to use the lightscribe software to label a disk. I don't really think external hard drives are that great considering they are just as reliable as internal hard drives which would be pointless as RAID1 should be reliable enough in that case. Backing up to DVDs are quite unreliable too, a simple scratch could render the backup useless. Also it would require quite a lot of DVDs to backup my data (at least 500GB!).
