documentation on installing dvd2 in 6.3 x64 release?
Hello - I've searched the CentOS 6.3 wiki docs (Help, Tips and Tricks, HowTo, FAQ, and website search) on how to install the dvd2.iso image on an x86-64 machine and can't find any info and the documentation is not yet posted for CentOS 6.x. When the dvd1.iso for 6.3 x86_64 installs, it does not prompt to install dvd2.iso. Please provide a URL which describes how to install the dvd2.iso image on an x86-64 machine....

trouble installing centos 6.8
Dear all, I'm having trouble installing Centos 6.8, in a VM using VirtualBox, and hoping that someone on this distribution can help. I'm running VirtualBox Version 5.1.4 r110228 (Qt5.5.1). I downloaded .iso files for Centos 6.8: - CentOS-6.8-x86_64-bin-DVD1.iso - CentOS-6.8-x86_64-bin-DVD2.iso I proceeded to set up a new VM, selecting Linux / RedHat 64 bit. I selected the DVD1 iso file above as "IDE Primary Master" and the DVD2 as "IDE Secondary Master". I then clicked "Start", expecting to be able to install the operating system. Instead of gives m...

Installing 6.8 from DVD1.iso, changes
..., try it again without rear. This time it's yum-plugin-ovl from base (?). Then chrony, also in base (?). Then flightrecorder, libreswan, at least 2 of openmpi & co. and finally unbound, which is a rather apt description of my current mental state. So, a heap of stuff has either moved to DVD2 or is new and lives on DVD2. The same set of selections, especially if you choose all the optional packages of a group, may not work as they previously did in the install of <= 6.7. Cheers, Zube

I have personally always had the best luck by installing the Live CD, and then customizing the installation from there. This also gives you a quick way to test if the hardware you are installing to is compatible with the version of Centos that you...

Combining CentOS 6.1 DVD images
I would like to create a single installation directory from the DVD1 and DVD2 CentOS 6.1 release DVD images, suitable for network (NFS) installation. If I mount each of the ISO images and copy their files to a single directory, will that work? That is, are the files on each DVD unique such that I won't be overwriting any files from DVD1 when doing the DVD2 copy? Wil...

The only format where we support the entire set of install options and delivery mechanisms is via the complete CentOS Linux 6.7 tree, wihch can also be created by consolidating all content from DVD1 and DVD2. We no longer produce CD size images for the entire CentOS Linux 6 distribution, however the minimal install and netinstall iso images are small enough to fit on all CD grade media. Further at the same page (i.e., at http://mirrors.hns.net.in/centos/6.0/isos/x86_64/), there are two more options of DVD1 and DVD2, so are these two more I have to download? Also for what purpose we have 'minimal' and 'netinstall'? Thanks and Regards.

Hi, I have a machine with a BIOS that does not permit DVD installation. It accepts everything else including some old superseded media types. Is it possible to download C6 combined parts 1 and 2 not using Torrent ? I have an aversion to using anything that comes from unknown sources, as used by Torrent. Thank you. -- Regards, Paul.
