compare results of glms
dear list! i have run several glm analysises to estimate a mean rate of dung decay for independent trials. i would like to compare these results statistically but can't find any solution. the glm calls are: dung.glm1<-glm(STATE~DAYS, data=o_cov, family="binomial(link="logit")) dung.glm2<-glm(STATE~DAYS, data=o_cov_T12, family="binomial(link...

R - box design-scatter plot für means/regression/lme?
Dear All! It's now weeks that I'm going crazy with R, and as I'm a new user I now ask for help (also because I still have only a few days to finish..)... So shortly I describe you my Experiment in which I was looking for the decomposition of herbivore dung under different treatments: I made a box design experiment which is structured in the following way: I collected dung from 2 species (Wildebeest and Giraffe) and put for each species 8 pellets in different pots. I used 2 water treatments for the pots: wet (by adding water) and dry and two shadow t...

Boxplot position on X-axis relative to it's value
Dear R-Experts. I collected different datas about Nitrogen content (mg/ml) in Dung. The dung was eighter fresh (day=0) or had different ages (15,29,47) to observe nutrient changes over time. Now I like to draw a boxplot. boxplot(nmgml~day) abline((nmgml~day) The Problem is, that the boxplot considers the day values as groups and not as time series (neighter when the days are n...

Comparing three groups, data: present, absent
Dear R-Experts, Dear friends of dung. I have a statistical Problem, to which nobody I asked could give me an answer. Maybe you can. I was in the African-Savanna and made a Dung-Monitoring. This means I walked randomly over the field and for every Dung-Event I found I noted following parameters: Species (Waterbuck, Giraffe, Reedbuck...

drop dead fix
...oice prompts recorded as 22Khz wav format files that sound like crumpling paper whenever I convert them to the 8Khz wav/gsm format required by Asterisk. I was considering trying the G.729 codec, but reading through the specs, I see that the 8Khz conversion is going to dump me into the same pile of dung. Any body have any suggestions? Is it good for agent forwarding to creates socket in /tmp/

Can't read/write to _nonfi
...ghtful, and as i read, R and Splus are very similar. So hope you could help me. I have been continously received these error messages after i ran my small program for couple of times. Can' access to file _nonfi Can't create file for assigning "last.dump" ("C:/WORKSPACE/DUNG/.Data/___bd40" It is frustrating since the program is so small , and as i look into my project, the _nonfi is there under the data folder. So i don't know what the compiler is complained about. Since i am new to Splus language, I have no clue what i need to do. for (i in 1: 1) {...

Doubts about mixed effect models
Hi everyone! I have some doubts about mixed effect models and I hope someone could help me. I´m trying to analyze a dataset coming from samples of dung beetles in the same forest fragments along 3 consecutive years (1994, 1995 and 1996) and 14 years after (2010). I sampled dung beetles in 18 different fragments with different sizes and different degrees of isolation. My aim is to determine whether total species richness change over time in forest...

Is it good for agent forwarding to creates socket in /tmp/
...in to a remote server with ForwardAgent enabled, sshd on the remote server creates a socket at /tmp/ and permission is 0755/srwxr-xr-x. What is the reason to allow everyone to read this socket? Also, is it better to save this socket in /home/user/.ssh/? Best Regards ----------------------- Tran Dung

Fitting a choice model (Bradley-Terry generalization)
I have some data I would like to model which involves choice of food by dung beetles. There are a number of experiments where in each case, there are five choices. Overall there are more than 5 different foods being compared (including a placebo) and different experiments use different comparisons. The problem is a generalization of Bradley-Terry but it differs from s...

Problem about samba3 on freebsd, with smbldap-tools [solved]
...ere are tdb files in /var/db/samba. I have just uninstall samba and remove all tdb files (this instruction was given when run make deinstall in the samba3 ports, but I didn't follow it before). I did a fresh recompile with ldap support and now the problem is gone. Question about multiple ldap backend (as failover/load balance)
Hello OK, in my case, there is only one samba server acting as PDC. On the PDC, it has a openldap server as backend. I have configured another server as the slave ldap server. slave ldap server will pool data by syncrepl. There are some spaces in samba/smbldap-tool that we can configure multiple ldap servers (or load balance by use of DNS) What happen if the PDC write data to the slave ldap

Problem about samba3 on freebsd, with smbldap-tools
Hi I have tried to setup freebsd (with samba3 ports), backend is openldap with smbldap-tools. After a windows client joined the domain, I tried to right click a folder to set Security/permission. How to calculate percentage variation in a zero-inflated negative binomial regression model
I am a novice in R but using R 2.13.1 in Windows I wish to be able to calculate the percentage variation in a zero-inflated negative binomial regression model that is explained by the two predictors in my model. My response variable was no. of dung-piles per km and the predictor of excess zeros was distance to major road (km) . Thanks in advance. Boafo [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

"Within" model in plm package: is the reported R-squared correct?
Hi everyone, I am doing panel data analysis using the 'plm' package. However, I have noticed that the plm() function reports a different value of R-squared from the R-squared of the lm() function with time-demeaned data. To be clear, I have tried to compute the within model both manually (run an OLS regression with time-demeaned data using lm()) and by using plm(). The two methods give me

where to submit new logcheck rules?
Hi, I've got a few logcheck ignore.d rules that I'd like to submit, one example is sqlgrey. /usr/share/doc/logcheck/README.maintainer talks about shipping the rules inside the package itself, so I could file a request with sqlgrey. However, that doesn't work because of course I don't have all the packages I use on my network installed on my loghost. In fact, I believe that
