Subject: [Rpm-devel] rpm-4.4.3-0.34 for CentOS3
To: RPM internals development and distro coordination
<rpm-devel at lists.dulug.duke.edu>
I've compiled rpm-4.4.3-0.34 against CenTOS3.
There is a yum repository with the necessary packages at
http://wraptastic.org/pub/i386-CentOS3-linux/RPMS
Note that these packages are compiled with --with-mutex=UNIX/fcntl.

problems with yum and 4.3-->4.4
Are the problems with yum in the Centos 4.3->>4.4 upgrade process due
to a forked or obsolete version of yum?
I briefly scanned <https://lists.dulug.duke.edu> and didn't see any
problems, but did see some incidents regarding yum hangs reported
about a year ago.

What you should do is go to Rawhide (my favorite mirror is
ftp.dulug.duke.edu) and go to the SRPMS tree
(ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/rawhide/SRPMS/SRPMS) and get
openssh-3.5p1-6.src.rpm. This is the source RPM for RedHat's openssh
packages. If you're on RH8.0 you'll want to do an 'rpmbuild --rebuild
openssh-3.5p1-6.src.rpm'. This will...

ENC: RES: ocfs installation error on RHAS 2.1
Well, I've downloaded the kernel source code from
http://mirror.dulug.duke.edu/pub/redhat/linux/updates/enterprise/2.1AS/en/os
/SRPMS/kernel-2.4.18-e.40.src.rpm
and compiled it for x86 (i686).
Is this kernel compatible with ocfs ??

how can I manage multiple repositories with yum.
I recently moved away from apt, becuase I could not make it work with
multiple x86_64, because there are many duplicate packages from both
rchitectures that get installed, and I could not make apt-get work.
Someone suggested that I try yum, which does work, but I am having a heck
of a time managing multiple repositories.
It was easy with apt, being able to pin priorities to repositories and

rpm and srpm for dovecot
hi,
I put an rpm and srpm for dovecot on:
http://www.dulug.duke.edu/~skvidal/RPMS/
They are made under rhl 7.3 - should build on 8.x I'd bet.
I added an init script to start up imap-master
I've done exactly ZERO testing on these and I'd welcome some feedback,
thanks.

0.99.4 released
This fixes the last weird bugs that I know of. Now just a few more
missing features and 1.0 should be there :)
v0.99.4 2002-12-01 Timo Sirainen <tss at iki.fi>
- Command parser had several bugs when it didn't have enough data to
parse the full command in one call, ie. network lags etc. triggered
those bugs sometimes. This was the last "weird bug" I know of.

yum proxy username with @ character
Hi,
I am having problem with setting up the proxy for yum correctly. I have
got no influence on proxy policy or authentication methods. The proxy
username contains the '@' character.
My question is if there is any way how to enter the username correctly
into the yum.conf. I tried many ways but has not been successful yet.
Many thanks,
David

Python bindings
...t
that's enough to play a file. I'll try to get the rest implemented soon.
It has documentation, but it's very likely incorrect, as I'm still figuring out
how to use the API (default values in particular I pretty much chose at random
or copied Alex).
Source and RPMs are at http://dulug.duke.edu/~andrew/pyogg
Oh, and I use the vorbis-config file, so there's one vote. I'd rather not
figure out how to get Python's distutils and m4 to work together, but I'll live
if it disappears.

[Bug 285] 3.3p1 on Linux 2.2.x doesn't accept connections
http://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=285
------- Additional Comments From dtucker at zip.com.au 2002-06-23 20:31 -------
Disabling PrivSep (add "UsePrivilegeSeparation no" to sshd_config) should get it
working on 2.2 kernels.
3.3p1 defaults PrivSep to on. Previous releases (that supported it) defaulted to
off.
