Status of Xen-Powermanagement-Support
...p? As I remember there were rumors, that those techniques were just supported for dom0, meaning that all the guests would run slow if dom0 idles. Is there already a solution for this implemented (in the unstable-tree), so that guests do also influence power-state? If so, does it also work with dualcore-cpus or is it better to stick with singl-core for now, if one wants to keep Powermanagement-capable? Thanks! 101th domU fails to start with "SETVCPUCONTEXT failed"
Hello there, We (a small hosting community) are running a steadily growing number of Xen domUs on a quad dualcore Xeon server with 64GB ram. We''ve got 100 running domUs at the moment. Trying to create a new one results in this error: Error: (1, ''Internal error'', ''launch_vm: SETVCPUCONTEXT failed (rc=-1)\n'') If I shut down another domain, I can create one again, b...

RELENG_7: buildworld failed with MODULES_WITH_WORLD=
Hi! I've just tried to build NanoBSD from 7.0-STABLE sources with MODULES_WITH_WORLD knob enabled and it failed. Note that NanoBSD uses make -j3 by default and I have dualcore system. ===> sys/modules/nfslockd (depend) @ -> /usr/local/src/sys machine -> /usr/local/src/sys/i386/include echo "#define INET6 1" > opt_inet6.h awk -f @/tools/vnode_if.awk @/kern/vnode_if.src -p awk -f @/tools/vnode_if.awk @/kern/vnode_if.src -q awk -f @/tools/vnode_if.awk...

supermicro server model
...lanning to purchase Supermicro server but I dont have idea what Motherboard and chipset model will work with TE406P.I read one post here that the chipset should be Intel E7520.Is it true?Is there other recommendation?My requirement by the way is to handle 1000 simultaneous calls. Does dualcore xeon (single cpu) and 2gig memory can handle this w/o transcoding using sip?Any recommendation? Thank you very much guys for your help. --------------------------------- Yahoo! Autos. Benchmark results
Hey everyone, I hope you guys can help me explaining a pretty strange result that came up when benchmarking a native Red Hat installation against a Xen DomU (installed in a file container). I used lmbench3 on a dualcore AMD-machine. To make the results comparable, I "unplugged" all CPU cores but one in the native installation (setting the "online"-entry to 0). The DomU had only one vCPU assigned. The installed packages on both machines were identical as well. After doing the initial configurati...

My Phone Review- Large Scale Corp Deployment.
...which is very important in a large corp environment when you have receptionists. We have chosen to go with 350 Aastra 480i, 125 Zulty WIP2, and Asterisk to replace our 15 year old monster Meridian Nortel switch and phones. Asterisk will be running on Pound Key Linux, on three HP Servers- All DualCore Xeons, Dual Processor machines, (so four cores per machine) with 4 GB of RAM per. We will also be connecting the machines with Gbit Ethernet to one another on a private Switch, separated from the rest of the LAN/WAN. We will be handling Voice PRI's and 2 T1s for outbound PSTN, and long d...

Regression since 1.0RC5
Hi there, I've found a regression in wine. Some wine versions ago (sorry don't know the exact version but it must be wine1.0RC1 or wine1.0RC2) there was a "bug" that caused Steam to be extremly ressource hungry (processor is at 95% to 100% -> 2.4 GHz dualcore) and it took much time until you could see your games in Steam or a website is displayed. Now the bug is back (in wine1.0RC3 and RC4 the bug was "fixed") ...Steam is extremly slow again...sorry, don't know why that happens...but I think you've done something with the gecko engine....

Bug#573210: xen-hypervisor-3.2-1-amd64: Xen domU sometimes hogs CPU and doesn't respond
...64)). At xm top that domain appears as running, but hogs all CPUs, because this problem has appeared on two identic servers (Supermicro X7SBi, QC Xeon, 8G DDR II). I think that problem cannot be in hardware. We were running this configuration on some other servers with core2 duo processor (only dualcore) and there this problem never appeared. I've saved a core-dump of affected domU, but it's really big(1,1GB), so I'll not attach it to bugreport, but it is available for debugging. Thanks for potential interest in debugging.
