[LLVMdev] difficulties compiling LLVM with CMake
...lc doesn't work
because it cannot find any registered targets. So I had to compile
them as shared libraries, but now I get a warning when linking
llvmother:
Linking CXX shared library libllvmother.so
/usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.1.2/../../../../i686-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld:
warning: creating a DT_TEXTREL in object.
In this configuration the libraries and tools work, except that the
tools produce some error output before doing their job:
$ ./compiler/llvm/tools/llc/llc --version

than once!

buildworld with clang breaks because no cc
I am doing a buildworld with clang on amd64 9.1-PRERELEASE #2 r242867.
In /etc/src.conf I have "WITHOUT_GCC= yes". Compile progresses up to below
then breaks:

===> usr.bin/xlint/llib (all)
lint -cghapbx -Cposix /asp/src/usr.bin/xlint/llib/llib-lposix

Unable to boot with syslinux-5.1x from git
Hi,
well, I was finally able to build syslinux-5.11-pre8 from git, but the
system doesn't boot with the self-compiled version. All I see is:
http://666kb.com/i/cfplluqpcy6owptq3.jpg
Build log can be found in http://www.syslinux.org/archives/2013-July/020452.html
After I installed the self-compiled syslinux version, I run this commands:
# cd /boot/extlinux
# rm -rf *.c32
# extlinux

ld: warning: creating a DT_TEXTREL in object.
Looks like your files aren't position-independent. What does,
file com32/gpllib/dmi/dmi.o
say?

[RFC, PATCH 7/24] i386 Vmi memory hole
Create a configurable hole in the linear address space at the top
of memory. A more advanced interface is needed to negotiate how
much space the hypervisor is allowed to steal, but in the end, it
seems most likely that a fixed constant size will be chosen for
the compiled kernel, potentially propagated to an information
page used by paravirtual initialization to determine interface
compatibility.

[patch 0/2] Updates to compat VDSOs
Hi Andi,
Here's a couple of patches to fix up COMPAT_VDSO:
The first is a straightforward implementation of Jan's original idea
of relocating the VDSO to match its mapped location. Unlike Jan and
Zach's version, I changed it to relocate based on the phdrs rather than
the sections; the result is pleasantly compact.
The second patch takes advantage of the fact that all the

[patch 0/4] Clean up asm/bugs.h, identify_cpu() and update COMPAT_VDSO
Hi Andi,
Four patches:
- clean up asm/bugs.h, by moving all the C code into its own C file
- split identify_cpu() into boot and secondary variants, so that
boot-time setup functions can be marked __init
- repost of the COMPAT_VDSO patches with a bit more robustness from
unknown DT_tags, and functions marked __init, since all this is
boot-time only setup.
Thanks,
J

Building llvm with clang and lld on arm and the llvm arm backend relocation on position independent code
At a guess that looks like your llvm and lld checkouts are not quite
in synch. It will be worth updating llvm and lld to top of trunk.
I've rebased the consolidated patch https://reviews.llvm.org/D34634
this morning, it might be worth trying that if you are seeing
problems.
