T1 DSU's/Split for voice
Hello All,
I was wondering if I could do the following on asterisk...
Get a T1 between 2 locations, and split it into a data channel of like
1024, and use the rest for voice channels.
Has anyone done this and had it working well? Or would I need to get a
csu that allows a split into two interfaces?

asterisk T100P to Merlin Legend
Management just approved purchase of a Digium T100P and a T1 card for
our Merlin Legend Switch. I will appreciate comments from anyone
performing this installation before:
- Which T1 card did you use in the Merlin Legend?
- Did you require any special interface? (CSU/DSU, etc)
- Any items to watch during installation.
Also we will need to remove one of our old analog Trunk cards to
accomodate the new T1 interface in the switch. This switch already has
two T1 cards in it. I don't know much about restriction in the Merlin
Legend Switch, but our phone tech told...

Anybody Configure Shorewall w/ Sangoma WANPipe T1?
...about shorewall a few days ago and am quite impressed with how
easy it was to create a powerful firewall. I set up a test system with a
cable modem and it worked flawlessly.
I''m going to be building a Router/Firewall for a new T1 that will be
using a Sangoma WANpipe card w/ integrated CSU/DSU to connect to a T1.
Has anybody done this yet, or do you know if it''s possible to use say
the interface WANPPP1 or whatever it is called instead of a standard
ETHx device?
Thanks.

OT: "Integrated Access T1" voice problems - is this possible?
...uot;Integrated Access" product. From what they say
it sounds like you can have audio dropouts on the voice channels when
the data channels are being pushed to the max. I have never heard of
this. It doesn't seem possible to me, and if at all, probably more of a
limitation in the CSU/DSU than in the actual T. Isn't that what TDM is
all about - giving each channel it's afforded bandwidth?
What do all the telco people out there think?

ISDN config: LBO values
Hi all,
When configuring Asterisk with an ISDN card, it will at one point
become necessary to select the LBO (Line Build-Out) value. This is an
integer (0-7) that is determined by the length of the cable and is
selected from the following table. Many of us are familiar with it:
CSU (dB) DSX-1 (feet)

Thanks. This appears to be the case here. The machine is a Dell 11G server. I upgraded all the firmwares with dsu, BIOS was at latest already. After dsu, I upgraded the NIC option ROM with bootutil (I'm not using the builtin BRCM NICs, but an Intel X520-T2 card). That's all I can do on the hardware front. And it *still* shows the same behaviour.
Moving tftp server it is then ...

Identify call router? How?
I have a machine in my office, it is labelled Cable and Wireless, and on
the back it says, SMarT-1
I have searched the web, and no joy. It connects to a PC via a serial
cable, has anyone heard of such a device?

RE: Asterisk-Users Digest, Vol 19, Issue 10
Need help...I need to install a card to terminate 7 lines...I have not
order the phone lines yet...I can either do analog lines 1FBs or order a
fractional T1...any suggestions on what hardware would be easier to
install and configure...also if I went with a T1...do I need an external
CSU/DSU or anything or does it just plug into the T1 card...thanks..

Set-up for 2 Asterisk System
...asterisk systems and I'm looking for some suggestions as to what the best way to do this will be.
The 2 systems are for 2 companies that share a single T1 line. The T1 line has 12 voice channels and 12 data channels.
Currently, they are set-up as follows:
T1 line from provider enters CSU/DSU and splits voice/data channels. The voice channels are sent to an ADIT 600 w/ 4 FXS cards. The ADIT 600 then breaks down the T1 voice channels into analog lines, of which 8 are fed into one phone system and 4 are fed into the other phone system.
I have been thinking about throwing in 2 more ADIT...

Three (quick?) questions...
[Please excuse if this is a repeat; I initially tried to send it from a
different account, and it's been held up for a couple of days awaiting
moderation.]
1) What's the absolute minimum required (hardware-wise) in order to get one
in-bound POTS line into Asterisk, and then have IP phones "inside?"
[In other words, I obviously need a NIC -- but what would be the

Is Asterisk a PBX?
...rver." You can't even call it a
"voice communications server" because it does more than that! Is it a
"Communications Server," or maybe a "telecom/datacom server?" I can see
it now, yet more acronyms! How about this: Asterisk is an AVCS/DCS
(kinda like CSU/DSU): Audio/Video Communications Server/Data
Communications Server?
We could have lots of fun with this one... :)

suggestions on an IP T1 to TDM T1 gateway solution
Can anyone offer up a suggestion on a reliable and cost effective
customer premise hardware setup to be able to take an inbound IP T1 and
deliver a PRI interface to a remote office?
Trying to reduce the amount of hardware required to implement this,
right now we use a Cisco router to take the IP T1 in on a serial port
and then we go Ethernet to a slimmed asterisk box with a single port T1

TE11OP -> Mitel 200Sx??
Hello all. I just received a TE110P and am trying to hook it to my Mitel 200SX has anyone successfully done this? My configuration is as follows.
Asterisk -> TE110P ->Kentrox (csu/dsu) -> Mitel T1 Card.
All I get is a blinking yellow on my TE110P card and an alarm on my Mitel. T1 card.
Any advice would be great.

UEFI and PXE
We have a working PXE setup. I've tried to adapt it to UEFI as per
RHEL6 manual, but the client won't boot.
Strangely, tcpdump shows that the client tries to download all files via
tftp from the dhcp server rather than the tftp server (they are
different). next-server is pointing to the tftp server.
Any clues?

How to use a data T-1?
...h a T1 card on your asterisk?
If you want to use the T1 as 24 voice channels, the Telco is going to
have to re-provision the T1 as a voice T1, because currently, presumably
it is one big channel of data. You could have the telco do any
combination of 24 channels, some voice and some data, if your DSU or
router allows drop and insert of channels. It would then split the T1
into a "voice side" and a "data side", each with part of the channels
available.
Once you have a channelized voice T1, it can plug into a voice T1 card
in your Asterisk, but typically can't do data an...

Sangoma S508 Rev-B
Hi list,
I've browsed through the wiki pages and finally would like to get some
answers from peple who perhaps had used such card. I have the sangoma
s508 card. It has no CSU/DSU. It is an ISA card with DB9 and DB25
connectors (for RS232 and V34/X21/EIA interfaces). They claim it is a
frame relay and syncronous ppp card.
Can I use this card with asterisk in any way but without subscription to
a Frame Relay account? Perhaps in similiar manner as T1/E1 between a
channel...

FS: Zhone Channel Bank
Hi,
I have a mint, like-new (used only once) Zhone Z-Plex channel bank for
sale. It has 16 FXS and 8 FXO (part number: Z-PLEX-10-24S/O). It
functions as a channel bank, router, and CSU/DSU, combining T1, analog
voice, and data. D4, SF, and ESF line formats are supported with AMI
or B8ZS coding. It has dual T1 jacks, one ethernet jack, one serial
port, one V.35 port, and 24 analog pairs available via 50-pin Amphenol
connector (I'll also include two Leviton 41600-I break-out boxe...
