Wrapping a Windows DLL
Hi,
maybe this is a common question, in which case I would be very glad for a
few pointers to corresponding information. Here is what I am hoping to
achieve:
A device (a DSLR, but that should not really matter) can be controlled by
the computer via USB. The manufacturer provides an SDK and a couple of
DLLs, but no USB documentation and certainly no source. It's using the SDK
or reverse-engineering the protocol. Is it possible to use Wine to emulate
the Windows-speci...

One-to-one or one-to-many association
Hi,
I am creating a stock control application.
I have a table called "equipment_type" that stores a general

we have with their serial numbers. There may be many Canon 60Ds and
they should refer to the "equipment_type" table for their description.
Is this a one-to-one association, because they have only one

I think this is pretty cool. not too sure how stable/durable though, at
least not until there are a lot more nodes providing service. also
unsure of the legality vs. your average telco's consumer tos, but it's

Ogg is great!! Tools: ffmpeg2theora, oggz
Hi, I just wanted to say that I've recently become a fan off the ogg movie format. I haven't really done much with video before, but I recently got a Canon DSLR which can record HD movies at 30 fps, 720p. The resulting files are great, but too large to share over the web.
After trying a few different encoding tools, I quickly found that ffmpeg2theora is super easy to use, gives good quality output without requiring any command line parameters, and gives...

Linux, wine and lightroom
I'd love to tote a 'bells and whistles' sub-notebook though the ?800.00 plus price tag for a 10-12" screen machine which can effectively run XP or Vista and CS4 is too much considering I already own a large Tosh notebook (which I'm unwilling to haul overseas...) and two powerful desktops.
So I'm considering a cheaper, less capable sub-notebook, perhaps something around

Yager on ZFS
Not sure if it''s been posted yet, my email is currently down...

Interesting piece. This is the second post from Yager that shows
solaris in a pretty good light. I particularly like his closing
comment:
"If you haven''t checked out ZFS yet, do, because it will eventually
become ubiquitously implemented
