Failed to dup/close : The descriptor is a file, not a socket
...from my Linux pc. I have cygwin installed on the win98 and NT. Rsync is version 2.4.6 Is it just because Win9x SU**s? Also where can I get a list of environment variables that I can use? using rsync to backup windows workstations
I have 5 windows workstations and 1 computer running freebsd 4.4 I want to install rsync on the freebsd computer so I can use it to backup some files/documents on my windows workstations. I want rsync to run automatically every 6pm mon-sat. I wanna ask if there is someone in this list who can give me guidelines on how i can do this. And another question I have is do I need to install samba? i

Block Size
What is the default block size? I have a few files 30+mb and data is just added to the end of them. It seems like it takes longer to sync them that it was to send it initially. Should I change the block size or something else? I am running: rsync -z -e ssh *.* user@linuxbox:data/ I need to use ssh because I am going over the internet and sending "company data". -------------- next

ssh authentication
I am using rsync with ssh and have 12 winNT servers all called Server. Can I put all the rsa/dsa keys from each of them into authorized_keys2? Will it look through all of them till it finds one that matches the particular server? Or will it stop on the first one that is Administrator@SERVER? Also all of these servers only have dialup (56k modem) access. Would setting the block size (-B) help
