old print jobs go away!!
Hello,
My name is Shane Drinkwater. I am having some problems with samba and
printing. It seems that old print jobs will not leave the printer status
screen on my 2000/xp clients. It looks to me that the tdb for the offending
printer is not being purged when a print job completes.

my printers are still paused in Win2k and WinNT 4.0
Hello,
It seems that I am in printer hell once again :) I am trying to sort out
some printer problems with our UNIX server. The basic problem is this. I
have a test server to K.I.S.S the problem. On this server I have defined two
queues which are csqlis and HPfinley. csqlis seems to work correctly and
displays ready. HPfinley always reads Paused on win2k and NT40 clients. The

Printers Always Paused - A Solution
I had a problem with Samba 2.2.5 with the printers being
permanantly paused to Windows machines. They could print OK - it
was only the status that was wrong.
The reason for this was because I had used the word office in the
printer name / comment. This was causing the parser which
recognises the printer status to find 'off' pausing the printer.
A quick fix for this is to replace the

Problem upgrading to 3.0.4 and ArcServe
Hi,
Since I had upgraded from Samba 3.0.0 to 3.0.4
I have problems with ArcServe to connect to the
share.
Arcserve is running on a NT 4.0 box, everytime
I try to connect to the samba share it says me

from windows explorer I have not problems.
Thank you in advance

Can tdbtool be installed on it's own?
...d the events aren't being caught my the standard logs. Plus Netgear force the smb.conf to auto generate and any changes I make get over written once a day.
I have asked Netgear about this but their level 2 support haven't got a clue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Regards,
Tristan Drinkwater

I compiled cups and samba from sources the commands I used are:
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/cups
configure --with-winbind --with-pam --with-smbmount --enable-cups
using the ldd `which smbd` The smbd daemon is compiled correctly with the
correct cups lib.
Any Ideas....

Problems with slow printing
Hello,
My name is Shane Drinkwater. I have had a problem since samba-3.0.25 with printing being very, very slow. It takes about 15- 30 seconds for the print dialog box to appear. After selecting OK the print happens in a reasonable time. File serving performance seems to be similar to previous revs of samba. I did read the "Pr...
