Draft2 was copied over to "OggPCM" in March
2006 and in October 2006 the "this is a draft"
phrasing was removed. From that point,
"OggPCM Draft2" was redundant and should
have been deleted.

Hi,
The Xiph Wiki contains the four pages:
OggPCM
OggPCM Draft1 (with Talk page)
OggPCM Draft2
OggPCM Draft3
Can I suggest that this be reduced to just one
(or maybe two) pages. I suggest this because
somebody has started making changes to
OggPCM Draft2. My guess is that this is not
desirable.
Regards,
Martin

So what is "OggPCM"? I started this thread
because I was puzzled why someone was
changing a draft instead of the document
itself.
I started making changes to "OggPCM" back
January. Maybe I was wrong to do that, and
I should have been changing "OggPCM Draft2"
instead. Having four versions of a document
is very confusing to newcomers (like me), and
I still suggest the number should be reduced.

Hi Sampo. If I had know it...

The problem is that nobody seems available to do it. If either
Martin or Sampo would like to work on it, I believe nobody will
oppose.
CMML and Skeleton implementations are far more urgent right now, though.
I have changed the main page in the XiphWiki to link to Draft2 as the
"official" OggPCM. Hope that helps.

ok, I did know that oggz-validate only passes things which are known
media types (currently it knows about Vorbis, Theora, Speex, Flac, CMML,
OggPCM(draft2) and Skeleton). I guess this is because the original
reason for oggz-validate was to check interleaving order, for which it
needs to be able to interpret granulepos. It's probably worth adding an
option to disable those checks and only check the bitstream packing.

Draft 3 is obviously a joke. Draft 2 is what most of the people agreed
upon the last time around, with the channel maps left unfinished. Draft
1 was abandoned by most people in favour of draft 2.

That someone is me. I've asked about this on-list a while back
(http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/ogg-dev/2007-October/000644.html), and
tried to spur some interest on #vorbis as well. Since nobody seemed too
interested but didn't object to my suggestion of helping out either, I

revision of posting guide
I've placed a revision of the posting guide at http://pws.prserv.net/tap/posting-guide-draft2.html. (Posted there to make the HTML formatting easy to read.) I've tried to incorporate the suggestions people posted and mailed to me. Quite a few were of the form "too long, but you should add this..." :-)
