...;m trying to configure shared mailboxes with ACL. My problem is FS layout.
Our maildirs is completely outside of home dirs (home dirs is on pure SSD
zpool, maildirs on separate HDD zpool). We are using checkpassword auth,
which sets mailbox_location for each user. Layout is following:
maildirs:
/dpool/mail/maldirs/user-uuid/
home is:
/dpool/mail/home/user-uuid/
index & control is under home:
/dpool/mail/home/user-uuid/[index|control]
the problem is how to specify path in NAMESPACE definition. I can use %%
variables, but maildirs is not under home and also does not have "fixed&qu...

questions about replacing a raidz2 vdev disk with a larger one
I''d like to replace/upgrade two 500GB disks in RaidZ2 vdev with 1TB disks, but I have some preliminary questions/concerns before trying ''zfs replace dpool ?''
Will ZFS permit this replacement?
Will ZFS use the extra space in a heterogeneous RaidZ2 vdev, or is the size limited by the smallest disk in the vdev?
Thanks in advance,
Vizzini
The system is currently running snv_98, zfs on disk version of 10, and eight 500GB disks in the followin...

resilver question
Hi all
I''m seeing some rather bad resilver times for a pool of WD Green drives (I know, bad drives, but leave that). Does resilver go through the whole pool or just the VDEV in question?

bug :zpool create allow member driver as the raw drive of full partition
.../rdsk/c0t0d0s0) as the member driver of rpool.
Infact, solaris2 partition can be more then one in each Hard Disk, so we also can use the RAW driver like : c0t0d0p1 (/dev/rdsk/c0t0d0p1) ,c0t0d0p2 (/dev/rdsk/c0t0d0p2) as the member driver to create a new zpool :
Morpho at egoodbrac1:~# zpool create dpool raidz c0t0d0p1,c0t1d0,c0t2d0
This command can successful create a new raidz pool named dpool
and c0t0d0p1 means the RAW drive of the first solaris2 partition of the system disk (c0t0d0),c0t1d0 and c0t2d0 is another 2 RAW disk.
But ,If you understand , in logic the member driver of rpool c0t0d0s0...

slow zfs scrub?
...ps with seven 2TB drives each. The root fs is on a pair of X25M (gen 1) SSDs and another set of similar SSDs be used for Zil and L2ARC (mirror for zil and stripe for l2arc).
Is this correct behaviour? according to the zpool status, opensolaris is supposed to use something like 14 days to scrub the dpool...

Recovery of RAIDZ with broken label(s)
Hi all,
I have a 5 drive RAIDZ volume with data that I''d like to recover.
The long story runs roughly:
1) The volume was running fine under FreeBSD on motherboard SATA controllers.
2) Two drives were moved to a HP P411 SAS/SATA controller
3) I *think* the HP controllers wrote some volume information to the end of
each disk (hence no more ZFS labels 2,3)
4) In its "auto

RAID10
Hi All,
I am looking at ZFS and I get that they call it RAIDZ which is similar to RAID 5, but what about RAID 10? Isn''t a RAID 10 setup better for data protection?
So if I have 8 x 1.5tb drives, wouldn''t I:
- mirror drive 1 and 5
- mirror drive 2 and 6
- mirror drive 3 and 7
- mirror drive 4 and 8
Then stripe 1,2,3,4
Then stripe 5,6,7,8
How does one do this with ZFS?
