SNMP Stuff/MIBs for CyberPower and APC UPSs
Build from source, and done . . . wasting your time looking for a less out of date RPM is pointless. . . RPM, .deb, etc are almost always downrev. . .

Building Samba 3.0.5 on HP-UX 11.11
First -- to avoid the common answers to the 'building on HP-UX'
questions that seem to be available on the list and the web:
1) using the depot from the Porting Center won't work, it's well
downrev of 3.0.5 and I need to get the new security fixes (so that the
security team will go back into it's dark dank den and fear not for
the security of our environment)
2) samba.org only has a 3.0.4a binary package for HP-UX -- so again,
no security fixes
as such, I'm trying to build 3.0.5 on...

Paginate with Rails 2.0.2 question
Hi,
So I''m using @post_pages, @posts = paginate :posts, :per_page => 10
to paginate.
But I have rails 2.0.2 on my VPS. Now this version of paginate throws
an error. What happened to classic pagination and what is done now?
Thanks,
Ron

Random "access denied" failures
I'm at my wits end. I'm running FreeBSD 5.4-STABLE and Samba 3.0.20 on
my fileserver. It authenticates from Active Directory which is most likely
running on Windows 2000 Server. I do NOT have domain admin
priviledges--only admin privs of my OU.
My problems began when I upgraded from 3.0.14a to 3.0.20:
It started with one user suddenly getting denied access to his home
directory on

GRUB + zpool version mismatches
Apparently with zfs boot, if the zpool is a version grub doesn''t
recognize, it merely ignores any zfs entries in menu.lst, and
apparently instead boots the first entry it thinks it can boot. I ran
into this myself due to some boneheaded mistakes while doing a very
manual zfs / install at the summit.
Shouldn''t it at least spit out a warning? If so, I have no issues

Is LSI SAS3081E-R suitable for a ZFS NAS ?
According to various posts the LSI SAS3081E-R seems to work well with OpenSolaris.
But I''ve got pretty chilled-out from my recent problems with Areca-1680''s.
Could anyone please confirm that the LSI SAS3081E-R works well ?
Is hotplug supported ?
Anything else I should know before buying one of these cards ?
Thanks,
Arnaud

Re: Demonizing generic Linux issues as Fedora Core-only issues -- WAS: Hi, Bryan
Even I've left this thread.
I guess we're all waiting for Lee to turn Blue. ;->
Or is it Red (Hat)? ;->
Okay Lee, we all agree, Red Hat makes stupid decisions, adopts buggy software - especially the kernel and Red Hat is to blame for the decisions in the kernel, and also stupidly backports fixes instead of adopting newer versions with the fixes.
And there is absolutely no need for

Patching CyberPower UPS drivers
Hey there,
I got a new UPS (CyberPower PR1500LCDRTXL2Ua) and found the serial drivers don't quite work...
So I decided to jump in and make changes to the driver that would hopefully make it happier.
I have it working (I really only changed powerp-txt.c) but still have a couple questions... Charles said I should mention them here to talk to anyone interest but specifically Arjen (one of
