Broken dovecot-uidlist files
...a:
Unfortunately, they still pop up. Since I suspect these errors to be
responsible for customers complaining about downloading mails twice, I'd
like to fix them.
Our setup has multiple servers sharing the same NFS-mounted directory for
maildirs and indexes; we have set
mmap_disable = yes
dotlock_use_excl = yes
fsync_disable = no
mail_nfs_index = yes
lock_method = fcntl
As far as I can tell, for at least one of these errors, there was no
concurrent access to the mailbox in question.
What can I do to solve this problem, or to analyze it further?

mailbox locking
Dear Colleagues,
I use exim's appendfile transport, procmail and a local mutt on my
system, they all (to my knowledge) use lockfiles when working with
mboxes.
However, `doveconf | grep lock` says
dotlock_use_excl = yes
lock_method = fcntl
mail_max_lock_timeout = 0
mbox_dotlock_change_timeout = 2 mins
mbox_lock_timeout = 5 mins
mbox_read_locks = fcntl
mbox_write_locks = dotlock fcntl
pop3_lock_session = no
Do I need to change anything in dovecot's default locking setup? Does
it still use lockfiles on...

OS X Mail Administration
I'd like to request some feed back from any OS X Mail Admins on the
list, please.
Currently running 10.4.9 here using postfix / dovecot and I'm about
to take the plunge from mbox to maildir. I just migrated from uw-imap
to dovecot.
As you're aware, users inbox's are customarily stored in /var/mail/%
username and personal folders under /Users/%username/Library/Mail/IMAP.

Invalid old index files
...ss of evaluating dovecot. I have a rather big testing
environment with four dovecot director frontend instances and four
dovecot backend instances. Mailboxes are all in mdbox format and stored
on nfs. Indexes are stored locally. dovecot nfs setup for high
performance is used (mmap_disable = no, dotlock_use_excl = yes,
mail_nfs_storage = yes, mail_nfs_index = no).
The remaining problem is, if i disable a backend server and the backend
server which took over the connection already has some old index files,
this index files aren't updated. If there aren't any index files all is
fine and the inde...
