Remapping Polycom IP501 buttons
Hi, Just started using an asterisk-based PBX with Polycom IP501 phones. Am Fairly satisfied and am starting to get into FTP setup of the phones. Have figured out most things except for how button remapping works. In sip.cfg, I have this entry: <keys key.IP_500.31.function.prim="DoNotDisturb"></keys> This works as expected but if I try to change the remapping to any other value like "MyStatus", "SpeedDialMenu", or "BuddyStatus", it doesn't work. I got the list of values from Polycom's admin guide. Why does "DoNotDisturb"...

Off Topic: Disable Polycom Soundpoint DoNotDisturb Feature
We have set the do not disturb feature on our polycom phone such that incoming calls will not be rejected and sent to 'Busy' status. The user can still toggle dnd on/off, but incoming calls will still get in, indicated by the blinking light and the screen status. We were able to do that by setting call.rejectBusyOnDnd="0" in sip.cfg. However, the problem is that there is still

Re: Polycom Default Ring Volume [OT]
...via authorized resellers. Dunno if that makes a difference or not. My question was about the button programability and their response was that the manual was incorrect. You can not program buttons to have extended functionality. You can only reprogram "hard" functions like ArrowUp or DoNotDisturb, not "soft" functions like SpeedDial. They will be removing those references in the next revision of the manual.

how to realize chief - secretary (or Manager - Assistant) setup with Asterisk?
Hello, we are running a Asterisk (1.2) installation with about 80 snom phones (300,320,360). Now have the demand for a special manager - assistant setup for a few extensions. Since Shared Line Appearance is not available in 1.2 I?m wondering how to realize this... What we need is that the manager can decide whether he wants to get calls or not. If not he must have the possibility to redirect

Question about Do Not Disturb
Hello, Some of my users have phones lacking a DND button. I need to provide an extension they can dial that will put them in DND, i.e. tell the server not to send them any calls until they get off the DND. I've researched it for almost 3 days now and tried a range of configurations. I'm hoping somebody here has an answer. Currently, I have this in extensions.conf [app-dnd-on]

Changing contexts "on the fly"
Hi folks, I've been playing around with an Asterisk server in my office for a few weeks now, and I've got it pretty much nailed down the way I want it, which is nice. One of the features I'm using is the ability to switch different contexts in & out of the dialplan on a schedule. So, for example, I've got the "official" tel number ringing my desk phone between

FW: IPcortex: ERROR[23444] chan_zap.c: You cannot use cause 17 number when in state 6
Update: I can reproduce the error by putting the reception phone (call queue 0) in Do Not Disturb mode, then call in from outside using a mobile, then pick up the call from the 2nd phone in the queue. It will cause the error only if I hang up _before_ the mobile hangs up. The error doesn't seem to happen if the external call hangs up, or if the call is answered by the reception phone (first

Polycom phones w/ two lines on different servers
Hi all - This isn't really directly Asterisk related, but has anyone successfully set up a Polycom phone to register two lines on two different Asterisk boxes? I can get the first line to register, but the second one does not. I can still place calls from that second line, which indicates to me the server, user, and secret are correct. I'm running the newest 2.6 series firmware with the
