Two matrix loop
...e are some efficiency issues with my efforts. Plz have a look at this: donor <- matrix(c(3,1,2,3,3,1,4,3,5,1,3,2), ncol=4) receiver <- matrix(c(1,4,3,2,4,3,1,5,1,3,2,1,4,5,3,5,1,3,2,4,5,1,2,3,1,4,5,5,1,2,1,3,4,3,2,5,5,1,4,2,5,4,3,2), ncol=4) The above creates my two matrices. I have three donors, and eleven receivers (rows), with four measures (columns) in each matrix. And now, I want to apply the daisy() function from the cluster library, to calculate distances between my three donors, and eleven receivers. The end result should be a 11x3 matrix with distances between the units from t...

simple association question
I have two models, Donor and Contribution, and have has_many and belongs_to set respectively. My question is regarding creation of associated objects. I''ll let the code speak: me = Donor.find(1) contribution = me.contributions.create do |e| e.amount = 164.00 e.category = Category.find(1) end I thought this was valid, but it doesn''t work properly - it appears to

FerretDonors page added to wiki
Hey folks, I''ve just added a FerretDonors page to the Wiki (for those interested we have raised $3915 to date). Currently it just has a list of donors but I would like to add links for each donor to their personal and/or business websites. This is something I should have done a long time ago. I''d love to hear any suggestions as to...

Using Tags in Applications
I''ve been contemplating the utilization of "tags" functionality for categorizing records in my application. For example, a record can have any tag associated with them: volunteer, donor, phone_caller, etc. (Much like delicious) Has anyone already laid out a good architecture for implementing this on the DB, or other medium? I''m sure I can custom build something, but

R-2.10.1 : There is no make file. (PR#14192)

Neosurge.com
All, I would like to thank the latest donor to the CentOS project: Neosurge.com. We have a nice new, shiny server to help get all those updates out faster. http://www.neosurge.com/ Neosurge has plenty of hosting options from normal website hosting to dedicated / co-located servers. And I can vouch for the speed of the traffic into the datacenters. You can definitely get CentOS pre-installed

Partially crossed and nested random factors in lme/lmer
Hi all, I am not a very proficient R-user yet, so I hope I am not wasting people?s time. I want to run a linear mixed model with 3 random factors (A, B, C) where A and B are partially crossed and C is nested within B. I understand that this is not easily possible using lme but it might be using lmer. I encountered two problems when trying: Firstly, I can enter two random factors in lmer but

Has anyone seen this before?
I'm using samba and cups to allow NT/2k machines to print to an HP LaserJet 4000N printer. The printer works fine except for one in house program. In this one program, all the horizontal lines that should be printed are missing. Originally I thought this was a driver problem, but today, for no apparent reason, it started printing the horizontal lines... but only for the first page of each
