AD group membership script
...'d share it in case
anyone else might need it or find a use for it. The script determines
group membership by the following logic:
1) List all users with wbinfo -u
2) For each user, find their SID with wbinfo -n
3) For that SID, list all of the SIDs of the groups it is in with wbinfo
--user-domgroups
4) For each SID except for the first (which seems to be the SID of the
user), find the group name with wbinfo -s
5) For that name, append the user's name to a file named after that group

Winbindd and Domain local groups
...AIN1 (net ads join -U Administrator). I have also created a new domain local group in DOMAIN2 called DOMAIN2\domainlocal2 and added DOMAIN1\group1 and DOMAIN2\group2 as members of this domain local group.
With this setup, if I see wbinfo --user-sids=<SID of DOMAIN2\user2> or wbinfo --user-domgroups=<SID of DOMAIN2\user2>, I could see that the user is a member of DOMAIN2\domainlocal2 (along with the global group DOMAIN2\group2). But, If I do the same thing for the user DOMAIN1\user1, I don't find DOMAIN2\domainlocal2 as a valid group (I could find the global group DOMAIN1\group1 in...

Problem with number of groups of AD User (token size ?)
Hi all
On a CentOS 5.4 system with Samba 3.0.33 (member server of an AD domain in
2003 native mode) I have the problem that certain users can't use the shares
(can't logon), while others can.
I *think* this is related to the fact that those users unable to connect are
member of a huge number of groups (100+).
We know from experience that this is a problem in Windows itsself (need to

Winbind authentication and wbinfo -i user no longer work after uprading to 3.6.1
...om_name is NULL,
but has the correct domain SID. I believe the problem may exist around there. I did upgrade the
'idmap backend = hash' to the new format 'idmap config * : backend = hash' as specifed in the man
page without any luck. Name to SID and SID to name works along with user-domgroups, but user-groups
does not work. 'wbinifo --group-info=group' fails with a similar error as 'wbinfo -i user'. I'm
going to try to get back to 3.5.11.

Samba vs ADS problems
Hello Everyone
This samba server was working perfectly without problems.
Running as an Domain member vs Win2K ADS
One day it stopped working? All that happened 5 days ago was a change of
the administrator/root password
We adjusted the wbinfo ?set-auth-user towards the new password. But
nothing have worked since.
