goiax expanded with free us domestic calling
I launched www.goiax.com last week, which is intended to promote the use of IAX as a free and open source alternative to products like skype. There is no charge for the service. Right now I have free outbound to united states toll-free and us domestic numbers working. Currently the site hands out a virtual 87820-xxxxxxx number but I intend to add the ability to get a free United States DID [possibly other countries as well] as well. Please test it out. You can use an IAXy, asterisk, or an IAX softphone like iaxcomm. I intend to also mod...

Error running MuMIn dredge function using glmer models
...nomial data but I am getting an error message that I cannot decode. This error only occurs when I use glmer. When I use an lmer analysis on a different response variable every works great. Example using a simplified glmer model global model: mod<- glmer(cbind(st$X2.REP.LIVE, st$X2.REP.DEAD) ~ DOMESTICATION*GLUC + (1|PAIR), data=st, na.action=na.omit , family=binomial) The response variables are the number of survival and dead insects (successes and failures) DOMESTICATION is a 2 level factor. GLUC is a continuous variable. PAIR is coded as a factor or character (both ways fail). This model...

(offtopic) I need two sets of 5 different color scales
Hi, I am plotting a policy function (result from a dynamic stochastic optimization problem, discretized approximation). The policy function maps from an 2 x 2 x 2 x 3 x B x F state space to a B x F state space (B and F are usually between 4-6, and represent domestic and foreign savings. The other variables are income (Y), inflation (Pi), domestic and foreign interest rates (R and Z)). I actually wrote a plotting function to represent all this, the result is attached -- please have a look at it and help me... I need advice in the following: I need two sets...

Problems configuring SAMBA share on remote machine
I'm having problems getting a SAMBA share on a remote (Windows XP) machine to allow me write access to files. I can copy/paste whole files OK from my CentOS 5 box, but can't do any editing of files on the Windows XP machine, which I use as a file server for most of my domestic data (historical reasons for using Windows!). I've tried re-setting permissions to allow write access to the cifs-mounted folders/files, but without success - any suggestions please? Thanks, Andy

Node to Node UDP Tunnels HOWTO?
...h over at the same > time using the same ports). Ah! I'm noticing that configuring static ports on the NAT in front of a tinc node with a public IP seems to make a difference to the number of other tinc nodes that can then establish direct data with it. Also, I have two tinc nodes behind a domestic gateway and one of them is doing direct data to a tinc node that is behind a NAT with no explicit port forwarding, the other is relaying. This is just the way it is with NAT hole punching, I suppose. (there are more than A,B+C in my real world setup) > (This whole process is quite clever a...

Which phones are good, or at least acceptable, for home and office
...OTS) phones in my home and office with IP phones. As you can imagine I don't have a huge budget to work with but I want phones that will provide acceptable voice quality and durability. There are basically three categories as I see it 1. satellite phones (low cost, low function) 2. primary domestic phone (good quality, POE capable, headset capable) 3. primary office phone (good quality, headset, speaker phone) In most places the LAN wiring is already in place so the phone would need to be able to provide a LAN port for an existing computer. POE would be desirable in a couple of places d...

[RFC] One or many git repositories?
...increased burden > applied to contributors that don’t use the full LLVM family of projects. > What do you believe is this increased burden? The entire commit history of all llvm projects in a mono-repository is a 449 MB .git directory. It can be downloaded in about two minutes on a typical domestic internet connection (50 Mbps). If you download only a snapshot of the current HEAD commit then the .git repository is 88 MB and takes under a minute. Any other individual commit should be similar. This doesn't seem like a big burden to me. The checked out llvm source directory -- which you...

Numbering plan for incoming call CLID on chan_zap (PRI)
...distinguish local, national and international calls in Europe. The number has always the area code in front, but the country code only for foreign calls. Now I'm looking for any mean to decide, whether the received callerid begins with a country code and thus comes from another country or is domestic. Is there maybe any variable indicating this? Roger.
