Migrating rails 1.0 app to 1.1 - Noob question
Hi all, I''ve upgraded my system to Rails 1.1.1 successfully.
After much looking I haven''t found out how to migrate an existing
application to a new rails version though. What is the procedure, if
any, for upgrading the application I''ve developed in 1.0? Is there a
script I need to run?

questions
Hi,
I have a samba server running on Linux (RedHat 9.0), with the security set to user and 3 valid user IDs. The clients are 3 PCs running on Windows XP (HomeEdition) and connected through a router. From the PCs running Windows I can see the localhost (Sambas Server), but for some reason one PC can only connect to the share directory on the Samba Server. The questions are as follows.
1. Should

using samba 3.14a, windows xp sp2 configured with roaming profiles.
the profile seems to download properly but the start menu seems to be

anything tht requires reading of files seems to be acting strangely
the files exist on the server but somehow they are not read on the

all of the /profiles/username directories are configured exactly the same.

i have profiles working to some extent, that is when i create a new user
on the server, when that user logs in, the profile gets downloaded from
the server from the /etc/netlogon/default user directory.
any customizations that the user makes work just fine and get saved to the

Not bothered about the SID, but what was the RID ?
Also, does the username end with a '$' ?

Worked examples?
I've been experimenting with Samba a bit. I won't claim to know a whole lot
about it, because I don't, and I'm even somewhat of a newbie when it comes
to Linux/UNIX. But I've been working with the worked examples that the HOW
TO docs describe on the website, configuring my smb.conf file as is stated.
I'm running Samba 3.0.14a-2 on Fedora Core 4, and I'm running into a

Trouble with Homes
I am having trouble with getting my Homes section to work properly.
When I browse to the server from a Windows client, I can see my home
directory. However, when I try to access it, it challenges me for a
userID and password. No matter what I enter, I will not allow me
access. Can someone point me in the right direction to solve this?
Here are the errors...

XP SP2 connecting to 3.0.10-1.4E
I have been running our companies XP Pro systems on our Samba domain
controller (version: 3.0.10-1.4E) with local administrative rights up to
this point. Everything has worked fine.
We are getting larger now and I'd like to make the logins locally
restricted (I want them to have XP's "Users" rights and "Remote Desktop
Users" only). When I restrict the accounts

Samba/LDAP documentation
List, documenters;
I'd like to exchange notes about the official Samba 3 LDAP doco.
I'd like to do this off list, since doing it on list would simply confuse
and confound users wit perfectly working systems.
Background:
Me, Samba relative newbie, though I can get *everything* Samba-orientated
to work simply by using umpteen years Unix experience. Many years as
Openldap admin. With

This is for sure a problem. Why does samba wants to map to uid 2000?
For us we need a simple straight mapping:
SID S-1-5-21-X-Y-Z-1000 == Unix ID 1000
SID S-1-5-21-X-Y-Z-5555 == Unix ID 5555
For us the last part of the SID is the userid of the user on linux. The

Because you configured it that way:
idmap config ONEVISION : range = 1000-999999
As Rowland explained how the rid backend works you should have:
idmap config ONEVISION : range = 0-999999

Roaming Profiles & oplocks problems
I'm running FreeBSD 5.4-STABLE with Samba 3.0.20 configured as a PDC
serving a small-ish network (10 XP hosts). My problem concerns roaming
profiles - some XP clients take ages to logon and logoff. On doing some
Googling I identified the 'profile acls' parameter as being a likely
fix. However, I seem to have got myself into one of two scenarios:
a) With 'profile acls'
