Bridging and transparent proxy
Hi all, is it possible configure Shorewall in bridge mode and, in the same box, utilize Squid in transparent mode? I''m triing to do this, but the REDIRECT rule doesn''t work. I''ve already read http://www.shorewall.net/bridge.html to configure the bridge and work fine for me, but when I add the rule for transparent proxy

Re: Xen on openmosix/openssi..
...nnot be placed underneath that -- it appears to be an engineering impossibility. A hypervisor *must* talk directly to the hardware; that''s what makes it so fast. As an alternative, you can do it the other way around; you can run OpenSSI on top of Xen: http://openssi.org/cgi-bin/view?page=docs2/1.9/debian/xen-howto.txt I have begun to explore using Heartbeat+DRBD instead. Install Xen, install DRBD into Dom0, synchronize your DomUs on the DRBD partition, install Heartbeat, create another node like the first, use a script to stop/start the DomUs during a failover. Refer to Linux-HA.org...

High-Availability shorewall
Hi all! I think I remember there have discussion on this topic on this mailinglist a while ago. But the archives don''t find anything. Did anyone here set up a configuration with shorewall and heartbeat or vrrpd or ucarp? What would you prefer? Any experiences with failover times, setup problems etc? Good documentation on this? Thanks, Christian -- you don''t need eyes to see

One Remaining Issue Regarding 2.4.0
I believe that 2.4.0 is about ready to be sent out the door. I''ve made a couple of small changes since RC2 but I don''t believe that they warrant another RC. There remains the issue of what to do about support for Shorewall 2.0 given that 2.2 has only been available since March. It would be my recommendation to make 2.4 the new "stable" release but continue to

I quit.
It is with regret that I announce that Shorewall development and support is officially ended. Sean''s post has finally driven it home to me that in the long term, trying to support a project like Shorewall is impossible for a person of my personality and age. Sean -- please believe that this isn''t about you or your post -- your post was just the proverbial straw on this old
