R crashes when installing package from CRAN (PR#3399)
Full_Name: Renaud Lancelot Version: 1.7.1. OS: MS Windows XP Pro Submission from: (NULL) (213.154.92.224) R crashes when installing package from CRAN (from the menu). The bug seems to be reproducible, at least on my system: 1. Open R 2. Install package from CRAN: install 1 package 3. Back to R: delete file ("y" at the prompt) and wait till package is fully installed 4. Go back to the

predict.loess() segfaults for large n?
Hi, I am segfaulting when using predict.loess() (checked with r62092). I've traced the source with the help of valgrind (output pasted below) and it appears that this is due to int overflow when allocating an int work array in loess_workspace(): liv = 50 + ((int)pow((double)2, (double)D) + 4) * nvmax + 2 * N; where liv is an (global) int. For D=1 (one x variable), this overflows at

Internal error in 'ls' for pathological environments (PR#14035)
nchar(with(list(2),ls())) gives an internal error. This is of course a peculiar call (no names in the list), but the error is not caught cleanly. It is not clear from the documentation whether with(list(2)...) is allowable; if it is not, it should presumably give an error. If it is, then ls shouldn't have problems with the resulting environment. > qq <- with(list(2),ls())

zip.unpack() crashes R (PR#2818)
Full_Name: Henrik Bengtsson Version: R v1.7.0 OS: WinXP Pro Submission from: (NULL) (130.235.2.229) There seems to be an upper limit of the number of files (approx 1000 files) a zip-file can contain when unpacking it with zip.unpack(). This results in an R crash. This bug is urgent since install.packages() relies on zip.unpack() and too big packages/bundles won't install with the current R

Running an expression 1MN times using embedded R
Hello, I'm evaluating this expression expression({ for(x in 1:5){ .Call('rh_status','x') }}) a million times from a program with R embedded in it. I have attached reproducible code that crashes with Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x00002b499ca40a6e in R_gc_internal (size_needed=0) at memory.c:1309 1309 FORWARD_NODE(R_PPStack[i]); Current language:

Wx::GenericDirCtrl fixes
...l wxGenericDirCtrl#get_tree_ctrl() is fixed, is that you can sub-class Wx::GenericDirCtrl() into your own class, and intercept messages sent by the TreeCtrl within it. Example: class MyDirCtrl < Wx::GenericDirCtrl def initialize(*args) super evt_tree_item_selected(Wx::ID_ANY) { |evt| do_event(evt) } end end As far as I know, this will work with any of the evt_tree* signals. A bit of a hack, but it should work without any problems. An inconsistency with promise in attributes
When an attribute is a delayed expression sometimes it is not forced when it is extracted. > x <- list() > attr(x, "p") <- delay(1) > x list() attr(,"p") <promise: 0x11e4bb8> > val <- attr(x, "p") > val [1] 1 > attr(x, "p") <promise: 0x11e4bb8> I am not quite sure whether the above is a bug or not but I think

R v2.1.1 for Windows and "non-reproducible" crashes
Hi, R v2.1.1 patched (2005-05-26) for Windows crashes. The sympotoms are like "memory leakage". The patched version from two days ago crashes at a different position in R CMD check compared to todays version. A "REPRODUCIBLE" EXAMPLE: Unfortunately, I cannot create a minimal code example reproducing the crash, but here is at least a simple way to reproduce it: 1. Make

Spare some CPU cycles for testing lme?
If anyone has a few extra CPU cycles to spare, I'd appreciate it if you could verify a problem that I have encountered. Run the code below and tell me if it crashes your R before completion. library(lme4) data(bdf) dump<-sapply( 1:50000, function(i) { fm <- lme(langPOST ~ IQ.ver.cen + avg.IQ.ver.cen, data = bdf, random = ~ IQ.ver.cen | schoolNR); cat("

MacOSX 10.4.11 update breaks tests/lapack.R (R 2.6.0)? (PR#10454)
Hello, It seems the recent Mac OS X 10.4.11 update installed a new libBLAS.dylib in the Accelerate framework which either contains a bug itself or exposes a bug somewhere in R's lapack code on the PowerPC G4 and G5. My build of R 2.6.0 executed the tests/lapack.R code succesfully when I upgraded when 2.6.0 was released. After the OS update, it now crashes. This happens both with the version I

segmentation fault with Hmisc areg.boot(): Now acepack avas failure
Hi Folks, Mac OS 10.4.4 R 2.2.1(2005-12-20 r36812) Hmisc 3.0-10 acepack 1.3-2.2 I had R crashes while running areg.boot in Hmisc (see old message below), but now I realize that the problem appears to be in the avas function in acepack. I tried running running the avas example (in acepack package), and got an immediate crash. Any thoughts? The Apple crash report (from R GUI crash) follows.
