could error, the full command that failed was this:
dns_conn.DnssrvUpdateRecord2(dnsserver.DNS_CLIENT_VERSION_LONGHORN, 0,
server, zone, name, add_rec_buf, None)
This relies on:

The other DC is Windows Server 2003, does that make any difference?

bogus record in _msdcs zone in samba-dc
Hello,
I've just discovered a bogus record in _msdcs zone which exists on samba-dc
(vm-dc4, 4.12.2) only and missing on a PDC (vm-dc1, Windows Server 2008 R2):
# samba-tool dns query localhost _msdcs.domain.com @ ALL -U administrator 2>/dev/null
Password for [DOMAIN\administrator]:
Name=, Records=3, Children=0
NS: vm-dc1.domain.com. (flags=600000f0, serial=181, ttl=3600)

Sure. This is samba's:
dlz "AD DNS Zone" {
database "dlopen /mnt/domain/samba/europa/lib/bind9/dlz_bind9_9.so";
};
and this is BIND's (notice the last line commented out):
options {
directory "/var/named";
dump-file "/var/named/data/cache_dump.db";

samba-tool dns zoneoptions --mark-old-records-static
But this one return a lot of objects :
sudo ldbsearch -H ldap://server1 -P
-b"DC=example.com,CN=MicrosoftDNS,DC=ForestDnsZones,DC=exemple,DC=com"
-s sub '(&(objectClass=dnsNode)(!(dNSTombstoned=TRUE)))' dnsRecord name
@Wilfred : Sorry I fogot an argument, but if I ajust the command I have the
same answer than with --mark-old-records-static=2021-03-30

As for the why, it is because that is where it should be:
dn:
DC=DC4,DC=samdom.example.com,CN=MicrosoftDNS,DC=DomainDnsZones,DC=samdom,DC=example,DC=com
objectClass: top
objectClass: dnsNode
What does 'samba-tool dns zonelist IP_OF_WINDOWS_DC' show ?
