Samba 4 Bind DNS on CentOS 7
Can anyone point me to instruction for setting up Bind to work with Samba 4 on CentOS 7? I know there are some instruction at https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/DNS_Backend_BIND but they're incomplete when using the Sernet repo. In particular, it refers to 'include "/usr/local/samba/private/named.conf";' but that file doesn't exist at any location on my system. Is this a generic file that I can copy from some other place/system/person, or is...

Samba4 AD DC Implementation Report - YAY! And Thanks for the tools!
Following the instructions here: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO In that page there is a link to using Bind as your DNS server, which links to: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/DNS_Backend_BIND On that page, it instructs you to populate the DNS server with the command: /usr/local/samba/sbin/samba_dnsupdate --verbose --all-names Without the "interfaces" and the "bind interfaces only" it will grab the IP addresses of all configured interfaces and register them into...

...vers with AD, by Samba4. So, I just deployed Samba4 on top of Ubuntu 14.04, it have Bind9, IPv6, a Secondary DC with replication, everything seems to be going just fine... Except W2K8 R2... I followed this docs: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/DNS_Backend_BIND https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/HOWTO/Join_a_domain_as_a_DC A Windows 7 VM joined okay into Samba4 AD DC, as you guys can see here: http://i.imgur.com/1XJunmT.png But, "Windows 2008 R2 Datacenter" does NOT join Samba4 domain... It keeps telling me that the "administrator...

apparmor profile for samba4+bind9.9: writes to /var/tmp?
From Ubuntu 14.04, I have installed Samba 4.1.6 and bind 9.9.5 and have them working together as per https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/DNS_Backend_BIND To make it work I had to add the following overrides to /etc/apparmor.d/local/usr.sbin.named: # Samba4 DLZ and Active Directory Zones /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/samba/** rm, /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/ldb/modules/ldb/** rm, /var/lib/samba/private/dns.keytab rk, /var/lib/samba/private/named.conf r,...

Missing dns.keytab and named.conf
Hello list: I would like change the dns backend from Samba Internal DNS to BIND_DLZ . I compiled samba 4.1.7 on debian wheezy. But when I did the tutorial https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/DNS_Backend_BIND I noticed that there was no file /usr/local/samba/private/named.conf nor dns.keytab. I found a file named on /usr/local/samba/share/setup/named.conf but I'm not sure that's the correct file. I provisioned samba thus samba-tool domain provision --use-rfc2307 --interactive I do not know how...

DNS problems
I'm running my AD now, but testing some things dependent on DNS does not seem to be working. Our server is setup in our cnpapers.net domain and was provisioned using Internal Samba DNS. The forwarder is set properly, and almost everything resolves. The forwarder DNS server only has a subset of zones we use on it and it forwards requests to our public/real DNS server. So a request would

Struggling to get DC Setup/Validated with BIND_DLZ
...experience with BIND, and some with Samba, but I know nothing about AD. Anyhow, I am trying to get a simple lab DC setup using BIND9_DLZ and I am having trouble when I try and test the DNS update capabilities. I followed the guide here to setup BIND as a backend: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/DNS_Backend_BIND And the guide here to setup the Samba DC: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO When I run: # /usr/local/samba/sbin/samba_dnsupdate --verbose --all-names I get: [root at lab-dc ~]# /usr/local/samba/sbin/samba_dnsupdate --verbose --all-names IPs: ['192.168.2.20'] Calling ns...

Samba4 AD DC Implementation Report - YAY! And Thanks for the tools!
In my initial configuration using the provisioning tool I did not set "interfaces" or "bind interfaces only" in the smb.conf, so when I populated the Bind9 DLZ file I ended up with several A records for my DC which were IP address which cannot be accessed by other hosts on the network.
