Hi All, I should have considered this beforehand... Assumed the info would be in the Wiki somewhere. Cannot find. The way our LAN has been working is clients use DHCP, but all address assignments are static. Thus, when a given PC asks "what's my address?", the DHCP server looks at the MAC address and asks the configured resolver what is the IP address for the hostname for that

Hello, I have a Samba 4.5 AD classic upgraded from a Samba 3 PDC. (classicupgrade steps from official wiki) But existing computers are not present in the DNS zone from the new BIND9_DLZ database, how can i add DNS entries for existing computers ? Thank you.

Can someone provide the correct syntax to delete a domain from DNS using samba-tool? If I use windows DNS snapin and create a domain. I'm unable to delete it by right clicking and choosing delete. I receive the following error "The DNS domain cannot be deleted. This function is not supported on this system."

Hi, After adding my domain machine I realized that after 15 minutes it stopped pinging my domain. Interesting that this only happens in windows machines. I already checked the logs and did not notice anything. Does anyone have any light? Thanks

I have bind9 but my problem is not the tools but the syntax of samba-tool : I have created a zone 18.172.in-addre.arpa then samba-tool dns add <my ad> 19.172.in-addr.arpa 0.11 PTR server1.sc.local but this command create a zone 172.19.11.11.0 !!!!!! Hi, I have 2 samba AD Dc's running 4.7.0 with bind_DLZ on both servers. For the most part things seem to be working as expected. I have created reverse zones as per https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/DNS_Administration#Creating_a_new_zone. I have noticed 2 things that seem odd. when I use the windows dns manager to add an A record. If I check the box that says to update the reverse zone and then click add. I get a response that says the record was created but if I look at the reverse zone the ptr never gets crea...

I set up two AD DC with external bind and it used to work for a while. Following a Bind9 upgrade named complained about missing SOA and NS records in the DLZ zones and could not be started anymore. Monday, due to a misinterpretation of some queries, I restarted Bind on the hitherto working system and I got the same error messages. No nothing changed - no changes in configuration, no updates.
