getting dmraid to use klibc
[please CC me on replies, I'm not subscribed] Hi, I'm trying to get dmraid 1.0.0rc9 [0] to compile with --enable-klibc, however I have some troubles with mkfifo defined in /usr/lib/klibc/include/sys/stat.h. /usr/lib/klibc/include/sys/stat.h: In function 'mkfifo': /usr/lib/klibc/include/sys/stat.h:28: error: 'S_IFMT' undeclared (first use in this function)...

CentOS 5 Dual Drive Confusion
...4 on this system, I normally work thru setting up Software RAID with identically sized partitions on each drive. For my test, the CentOS installer only presented a single drive. I took the default of letting it do what it wanted. After looking over the system I have verified that /boot is using DMRAID, but it isn't not clear if the balance of the drive for the root file system is using both drives or not, I think it might be. Using fdisk, I can see both disks are carved out identically: Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/hda1 * 1 13...

CentOS 5.8, Adaptec 6405 but lsmod lists dmraid?
Hi I have (actaully on a number of machines) various Adaptec card installed, yet lsmod shows "dmraid" loaded? How come? I thought that dmraid is software raid? Is this part of the booting and if so How do I tell mkinitrd NOT to make it part of the bootup process? Centos 5 install on BIOS RAID ie. dmraid M/B
I am experiencing hangs on the Keyboard Lang selection screen in GUI Mode install on a M/B setup with Intel BIOS SATA RAID. Workaround is to use 'linux nodmraid' switch which disables visibility of RAID volumes during drive detection of Disk Druid. Has anyone else tried this config without workarounds and success? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Installation troubles
I have a new machine I'm trying to install Centos 5.0 on and I'm not getting very far. The system is 2 dual core xeons (5160, 3.0 GHZ) w/ 8GB ram. It has two 320 GB disks on the motherboard controller (Supermicro X7DAE+), and 8 750 GB disks on a 3ware 9650SE-8ml, pcie (x4) controller card. The 8 disks are set up as two raid 5 volumes (4 disks each). There is a scsi card in the machine

Intel ICH9R Raid5 Recovery
...oing some hardware maintanence and unplugged one of the drives, and forgot to plug it back in. When I booted up, the array came back as failed. I turned off the PC, plugged the drive back in and powered it back on, but the array stayed as failed. Is there a way to recover the data? I heard dmraid supports ich9r raid volumes, but I keep getting an error saying unsupported map state 2. I found out that dmraid doesnt' support raid 5 (at least not on a ICH9R chip). I heard about this patch: http://people.redhat.com/heinzm/sw/dm/dm-raid45/, but I'm not sure how to apply it to a li...

deleting FakeRaid -> what happens to the partitions/data
Hi A server has FakeRAID installed, I want to remove it to make it mdadm driven .... If I delete the FakeRAID including - disabling it in the BIOS - removing the dmraid driver from initrd - deleting all meta data from partitions - deleting all dmraid packages is the data still available on the drives, i.e. the partitions, filesystem and files are still ok? I know that FakeRAID controller is not a real hardware controller and the driver (thus CPU doing the work...

IHC7 RAID-1 or Kernel Software RAID-1?
...#39;ve built systems previously, I've disabled any RAID controller and used kernel software RAID-1, set up per-partition, and this has worked well. This system is currently set up with hardware RAID enabled, which is detected by the kernel device mapper. I can see what it has found using "dmraid" with -b, -r and -s. A single physical volume was created on the mapped RAID-1 device, and then logical volumes created on that. My question is: which kind of configuration will generally give me better performance? To use the IHC7 RAID-1 as currently set up, or to use Linux software RAID-1 a...

...le), but reports indicate that it is at - (none) login: which only returns back to itself after a user login at console, including root. - the local user says, though the monitor speed was "too fast" that it is failing to find its mounts OR that the disk reported errors. It is on a dmraid (I know, please don't flame me). There is some critical information on the drives that did NOT backup. I need a list of tools and ideas to have a checklist to try and resurrect this machine. Of course I will go with - Live CD - CentOS 5.5 install. - Hard drives. I would appreciate any proc...
