If I known d1 (density1), and dmix is a mix between d1 and d2 (d2 is unknown), can one infer d2?
Dear All,
I hope the title speaks by itself.
I believe that there should be a solution when I see what Mclust is
able to do. However, this problem is quite
particular in that d3 is not known and does not necessarily correspond
to a common distribution (e.g. normal, exponential ...).
However it must look like dmix and d1 to some extent.
To illustrate my problem I worked out a simple example:

Asterisk throws error using the alsa module
Hello,
I can't get the sound over alsa to work with Asterisk.
My current version is 1.4.21.2~dfsg-3 running on debian stable.
All settings are the default ones with exception of:
/etc/asterisk/modules.conf:
load => chan_alsa.so
noload => chan_oss.so
/etc/asterisk/alsa.conf:
input_device=default
output_device=default
asterisk is started up and doesn't complain about alsa in

Pulse audo in 1.3.25+
So I used to use the winepulse patch for wine. (Yes I like pulse). But
since 1.3.25+ uses mmdevapi for audio, that patch no longer works. That
author points to a wine multimedia git, however, after installing that I
have no more sound in any wine application, and the winecfg test audio says
audio failed. How do I get this new sound server working in wine?

Weired Sound Issues on Opensuse 11.1 and ALSA (Wine 1.1.26)
Hello Everybody
I got some little issues with the sound. Logged in as my normal user - I've the testsound (winecfg) on the internal device. I can't change it.
If I log in as root I've the testsound on my external USB speakers (the way I would prefer it works).
I can't Imagine me - why there is a different between root and my normal user.
Please find below some details.

Audio in Windows 10 VM is distorted. Using ALSA.
...used (snd_usb_audio is not involved).
Passing the USB part through I get much clearer output, but still have
popping sounds. Googling around, they seem to be quite common on Windows
10, although I had it working fine on two bare-metal machines.
I have tried fixed settings matching the ones of the dmixed device
too. Don’t know, what is polled with enabled poll option. I also tried
sdl and pulseaudio, which did not help. For the latter not so surprising
since it is an Alsa pipe. The former was worse.
The goal of this setup is having the same playlist state on both
systems and using the better audio...

progress of sound update -- REVISED
Change -- The program I test with is Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
Yesterday's Ubuntu updates produced a rash of pulseaudio changes, and suddenly alsa works with wine, without stumbling.
Today's secret to making it work:
In System/Preferences/Startup applications, uncheck pulseaudio
sudo apt-get install esound
sudo nano /etc/pulse/client.conf
autospawn = no
Then every time your computer

asterisk 18.18.0 and chan_console
I am trying to get audio to play on Pulse - so just the monitor basically.
I have tried Console/dsp, Console/dmix, Console/pulse, and a couple others.
The error is always the same "console_request: Console device 'dmix' not
found.
What is the correct "Console/XXXX" to play on pulse for UBuntu 20.04 LTS ?
I can "aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav" no

Ubuntu - winecfg problems
I'm wondering if anyone else is having the same problems configuring
wine as I am?
I just installed wine (0.9.20):
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BuildingWineFromSource
(WineFromSource)
Everything appears to run fine but when I go into "Wine configuration"
(winecfg). I can't click on the "Audio" tab without it crashing and
giving me this error:

solution - running asterisk on box using alsa (FC3) for CONSOLE/dsp and wishing to play audio from browser
I found this information elsewhere....
making it /root/.asoundrc helped.
# This is .asoundrc
#
# this makes legacy OSS apps use alsa software mixing dmix
pcm.dsp0 {
type plug
slave.pcm "dmix"
}
# mixer0 can stay unchanged, because it isn't used anyway, I guess ? ;)
ctl.mixer0 {
type hw
card 0
}
# this makes native ALSA apps default to using dmix

alsa issue with asound.conf
I am using alsa with asterisk.
The asound.conf is below.
When I start asterisk with /etc/asound.conf present I get errors on
the console that:
chan_alsa.c:304 alsa_card_init: snd_pcm_open failed: Invalid argument
If I remove the asound.conf asterisk starts up and works. However
I NEED the asound.conf for another application.
What might be the issue here?
THanks

Asterisk 18.14.0 vs 18.18.0 and chan_console/chan_alsa
Joshua
Asterisk 18.14.0 with chan_alsa and Console/dsp works.
This does not work in 18.18.0 with chan_console enabled.
I am on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.
Is there a howto for the new chan_console ?
how can I get this working again ?
I am trying to just play audio on pulse audio.
Thanks,
Jerry

wine monopolizes the sound
Hello,
I have a sound problem with wine: when it is running, the sound works fine, but no other application can play any sound. If I have sound playing elsewhere and then launch wine, then wine do not play any sound.
I am using pulseaudio, debian sid 64 bits and I can play several sounds at the same time.
This problem happen even if pulseaudio is disabled, and with every wine version I tried

Ubuntu 6.06, wine and ALSA
Hello everybody.
I got some strange problem when running wine with ALSA as sound driver.
For example: when I run mdk2 (I compiled wine myself version 0.9.22 -
newest for now) sound is very noisy and crack'y and I get tons of this
errors:
err:dsound:DSOUND_MixInBuffer length not a multiple of block size, len

Re: No sound in Wine 1.3.37 (tried known solutions already)
I am experiencing what appears to be this same problem. However, I am already running a self-compiled Wine, so that alone cannot be the solution in this case.
I am running 64-bit Debian, tracking testing. I have compiled Wine myself, from git revision b05be807583eca27dc0a4de896ba901bac54088c ("Release 1.4-rc5.").
As with the previous report, winecfg reports that it's using

XEN sound emulation locks device exclusively
Hi there!
My problem is the following:
I am experimenting with virtualization with XEN.
I am running WinXP in a HVM host with a Debian Gnu/Linux (Etch) dom0.
I am also using audio emulation (sb16). This way, sounds from WinXP work fine.
And here comes the problem:
The HVM guest completely reserves the audio device; other software can not use it.
(mplayer says this:
