msvcp80.dll doesn't work
Error file begins:
Unhandled exception: unimplemented function
msvcp80.dll.??0?$basic_ifstream at DU?$char_traits at D@std@@@std@@QAE at PAU_iobuf@@@Z
called in 32-bit code (0x7b83aa52).
I downloaded a new copy of this and placed it in the /fakedlls dirctory,
where it replaced what was there, but it still
doesn't work. The site I d/l'd the file from gave the impression that

bad install
I tried to install Centos on a partition of a Windows machine, and I
screwed up. Thinking that the installation would take a while, I took a
short break. When I
came back, the install was "done" but it is now asking for a password
that I never gave it. I can't get around this. I tried to reinstall from
the DVD I downloaded,
but it just comes up "password" instead of

Hope this does not duplicate to the same place, but I sent the following
message to a different input. Here it is:
I have tried 4 or 5 times to install Centos 7,* and it seems to install,
but it won't boot to KDE or any desktop. It comes up in text mode, and
nothing I do will get it into a kde mode.
Or any graphic mode, that I know of. I have enabled a root password, and

Run DOS progs?
Can an old DOS program (like BASIC) be run in Wine? If so, how do you
set it up?

2 lists?
I use Wine occasionally for programs that are Win-centric, but I don't
play games. It seems like a very large portion of
the posts to this list are regarding games. I am thereby suggesting
that the list be divided into two, one list for serious
users, and one for gamers. I would subscribe to only the serious list,
obviously, and I would imagine that most of the
gamers would subscribe

WordPerfect--any version working?
Has anyone gotten any version of WordPerfect working in Wine? Please
let me know, and if you have a version that works,
could you let me have a copy? (I have WP X3, X4, and X5, and Wine
1.4.1, which I know is not the latest, but is the latest in
the PCLOS repo.) When I tried recently, none would install. HELP!
LibreOffice just doesn't cut it, and I could send you a file to
prove it.

Kingsoft Writer, etc.
Latest PCWorld mag had a nice writeup on Kingsoft Office software, which
comes in 3 flavors, the lowest of which is free, so I d/l'ed it and
installed it in Wine,
version 1.4-1pclos2012--the latest version the pclos distro has. It
seemed to install OK, but it won't open any file, and it won't open even
a blank file so you
could write on it. (Just looking at Writer, for the

AdobeReader on 64-bit PCLOS--how?
Some days ago I queried the list about getting LightScribe and
AdobeReader to work on a 64-bit PCLOS-KDE system. By accident, I only
replied to the one person who answered me, but I can report that the
LightScribe problem is solved, and without the use of WINE.
If anyone wants to know, please ask and I will post that solution.
However. I don't believe that there is a simple solution to

drive letter problem, pclinuxos
Have just installed Wine, version wine.1.2-0.RC4.1pclos2010.i586,rpm.
Also did the Wine Gecko install, manually, as was suggested by pclos,
in accordance with the Wine Wiki page. All of this seems to work, and
I can get the Notepad to work, and to print, so it sort of looks like
Windows. But it seems to be installed on the E: drive--at least that's
where most everything defaults to.

Disk drive question
I am new to Wine--I tried it about 7 or 8 years ago, with no luck
whatever, and now for the first time I'm
trying it again. I am amazed at how well it works! I have installed 2
windows programs, DraftSight and
GcmWin. The first is a CAD program and the second produces a Great
Circle Map centered on your input
coordinates. I would like to try and install an old AutoCad, but I'm
