Multiple Samba Servers on one Linux Server??
I would like to have the ability to have both share level authentication as well as Domain level authentication on the same server, is this possible? Any ideas on how it would be done? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Also, I currently have one samba server using domain level security. To get it to work, I had to add each of the users into the /etc/passwd file as dummy users. Is there

Best way to do logins by group?
Hello! I'm setting up a fileserver, running RedHat and Samba 2.0.6. This server will support about 80 people in several different departments, who all work under the same main unit. Each of the smaller departments has different requirements as far as shared resources. So what I'd like to do is create a login.bat for each department, and have Samba use it based on the group membership

I just installed Samba for the first time. Installed and setup like a dream. Unfortunately, I can't login to save my life. The server appears in the Net. "attack" (manage) NT domain using the linux tools?
rpcclient sound cool. I am running 2.0.6 Samba. 'rpcclient' exists with it but a call to 'man rpcclient' gets no results. Could it be that the man pages are in a later release? Problems authenticating against NT PDC
I'm relatively new to Samba so please excuse any inconsistencies with my terminology. I'm running Samba 2.0.6 on Solaris 2.6 and having problems creating the Samba server machine account on an NT PDC. I already have an NT based domain 'PCDEV' which consists of a number of NT 4.0 workstations as well as a PDC ('AULE') and BDC running NT 4.0 Server with sp5 (??). My NT

Win2K and Samba
Has anyone tried using Windows 2000 Professional with Samba? I'm checking it out now, and when I try to connect to a share, I get an error message similiar to the one you get with Win98 and NT4 with SP3+ with encrypted passwords. Does anyone know the equivelant registry path to set plain text passwords? The NT4 path doesn't seem to exist:
