Removed bind 9.8 installed bind 9.9 now named will not start with samba include statement: dlz_bind9_9.so incorrect version 2 should be 1!?
...ISC source,
and went to /usr/local/samba/private/named.conf and changed the line from
bind 9.8 to bind 9.9 and now I get this error and named will not start with
the include line for samba in /etc/named.conf:
get: "dlz_dlopen: incorrect version 2 should be 1 in
'/usr/local/samba/lib/bind9/dlz_bind9_9.so'"
Help!
I'm guessing I have to go into my samba-master git folder and replace the
file dnz_bind9_9.so with another for bind 9.9.3?
Thank you so much,

Upgrading BIND DNS Backend
...followed the procedure given in
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Changing_the_DNS_Back_End_of_a_Samba_AD_DC
and https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/BIND9_DLZ_DNS_Back_End.
When I start the BIND Service, it fails with an error. In journalctl -xe
we come to know that named service is unbale to open dlz_bind9_9.so file.
Full error message is as below.
--------------------------------------------------
[root at dc private]# systemctl start named
Job for named.service failed because the control process exited with
error code. See "systemctl status named.service" and "journalctl -xe"...

Is possible use BIND9 as DNS Back End on a new Samba DC?
Rowland,
I've done almost all permissions change, I forgot bind-dns directory. Now,
the named service still doesn't start and journalctl -xe showed me that
this occurs because permission denied to run dlz_bind9_9.so. I've checked
out and the lib and directory /usr/local/samba/lib/bind9/ have execute
permission to named group. The output of ls command, journalctl -xe and
/etc/named.conf. In my samba, the dns.keytab there isn't into
/usr/local/samba/bind-dns/. This file there is into
/usr/local/samba/...

On second read through. I assume the only contents in named.conf is
dlz "AD DNS Zone" {
# For BIND 9.8
# database "dlopen /usr/local/samba/lib/bind9/dlz_bind9.so";
# For BIND 9.9
# database "dlopen /usr/local/samba/lib/bind9/dlz_bind9_9.so";
# For BIND 9.10
# database "dlopen /usr/local/samba/lib/bind9/dlz_bind9_10.so";
# For BIND 9.11
# database "dlopen /usr/local/samba/lib/bind9/dlz_bind9_11.so";
};
It's safe to create this file myself then I would suppose?
