Samba 4.7.4 + bind9 DLZ /backend/ dropping delegated domain
No, I'm reading the dlz_bind9.c code. I've found and fixed the problem. It turns out that using a reference counted singleton is a bad idea. The singleton is defunct after reload. If we simply create a new state object and destroy the old one as bind is trying to let us do, things work out fine. This works, at least, for...

Samba internal dns server vs Bind
...it will act as fileserver too. > Is it true that Samba's internal dns server won't good for that, and > I > need Bind, because of Bind's zone transfer feature? I don't see the connection with zone transfers. At the small scale either will work fine. At larger scales, DLZ_BIND9 is slower (yes really) particularly if you ask it to be the default DNS server for the network, but the internal DNS server also can fall over faster under a high forwarding load. The reason for the performance problem in the DLZ_BIND9 case is a lock over access to Samba's DB, and the behaviou...

I've included the /usr/local/samba/private/named.conf file in my /etc/bind/named.conf, but on starting the bind9 service I get the following message: dlz_dlopen: incorrect version 1 should be 2 in '/usr/local/samba/modules/bind9/dlz_bind9.so' Does anybody have any idea how to fix this problem. Thank you.

Strange DNS results
Samba 4.0.0, CentOS 6.4, bind 9.9 DLZ. I could use some help debugging a strange DNS issue. I have two Samba4 domain controllers, dc-1.europa.icse.cornell.edu and dc-2.europa.icse.cornell.edu. On either dc-1 or dc-2 or any client host: # host dc-1.europa.icse.cornell.edu dc-2 dc-1.europa.icse.cornell.edu has address 192.168.15.250 dc-1.europa.icse.cornell.edu has address 192.168.3.250

Samba internal dns server vs Bind
Hi, I set up Samba DCs for two sites. The first site is for example domain.ourdomain.com, the second is site2.ourdomain.com. On the first site, there will be 2 DCs, and one fileserver, on the second site there will be one DC, and it will act as fileserver too. Is it true that Samba's internal dns server won't good for that, and I need Bind, because of Bind's zone transfer feature?

Switching to Bind from Samba Internal
Rowland, Thanks for the reply. I believe you're right. It appears the zone information is retrieved from '/usr/local/samba/private/named.conf'? Correct? I notice I do not have 'named.conf'. I have 'named.conf.update'. On 12/16/2014 9:21 AM, Rowland Penny wrote: > On 16/12/14 13:54, James wrote: >> Hello, >> >> Looking to switch to Bind.

[Samba4] samba_dlz problem "loading configuration: already exists"
Hi, I'm new to this list and Samba4, so may be this is a stupid question. I've installed samba4 (4.0.0alpha18-GIT-7b42ceb) on a server in my home LAN and have a problem with samba_dlz and bind (9.8.1-P1). In the zone definition file for my LAN domain, I had configured the IP addresses for several host names (e.g. printer, ...) with "A" records. This worked perfectly fine in
