winbind help for newbie
I've been looking thru manpages and online for help.....
I *think* I've got winbind mostly setup (somehow) but it seems to be using
the wrong Domain.
Some info:
I am running RH7.3
Kernel 2.4.18-3
Samba 2.2.7
In my smb.conf file I have:
[global]
security = Domain
workgroup = LMC
winbind separator = +
winbind uid = 10000-20000
winbind gid = 10000-20000
winbind

So I solved my orginal problem, but now here's where I'm at:
No errors when smb or winbind start (based on log files)
If I do a wbinfo -t
I get that the secret is good.
If I do a wbinfo -u
0xc0000233
Is all I get??!?
Same for when I do a wbinfo -g
What does this mean? No Domain Controller? If that's the case I've tried
changing the password server line in my

Winbind and wrong domain
Sorry to be a pest....but I worked on trying to figure this out all
weekend....and I'm still at a loss....
Here is all the info collected to date (these are all copy/paste from emails
I sent to the list late last week)

winbind LOGON_FAILURE
Environment:
Redhat 7.3
Kernel 2.4.18-4
Samba 2.2.7
NT4 Domain
I have replaced the actual domain name and the name of the PDC with words
DOMAIN_NAME and PDC_NAME. In both cases, the correct domain name and pdc
name are used.
I removed, waited, and then re-added my linux server to our domain from the
server manager on our PDC.
When I then run smbpasswd -j DOMAIN_NAME -r

I messed up winbind....but what is wrong?
I had posted about winbind picking the wrong domain to this list about a
week ago and this was the problem I was still trying to solve when I must
have messed something else up.
SO! Winbind WAS working (even though it was picking the wrong domain)
I re-ran smbpasswd -j LMC -r <our PDC> -U administrator
I get prompted for the password, enter it and I am told that I joined the
LMC
