ZFS Appliance as a general-purpose server question
A customer is looking to replace or augment their Sun Thumper
with a ZFS appliance like 7320. However, the Thumper was used
not only as a protocol storage server (home dirs, files, backups
over NFS/CIFS/Rsync), but also as a general-purpose server with
unpredictably-big-data programs running directly on it (such as
corporate databases, Alfresco for intellectual document storage,
etc.) in order to

Self-heal's behavior: problem on "replace" -- it leaves garbage.
Hi.
I'm using GlusterFS v1.3.12 (glusterfs-1.3.12.tar.gz) via FUSE (fuse-2.7.3glfs10.tar.gz) on CentOS 5.2 x86_64 (Linux kernel 2.6.18-92.el5) now.
The nodes are HP Proliant DL360 G5 (as GlusterFS Client) and DL180 G5 (as GlusterFS Servers).
And the connections are all TCP/IP on Gigabit ethernet.
Then, I tested self-heal and I found a technical problem about "replace" -- self-heal after a node's fault and others' file-contents decreasing leaves garbage.
I would like you to show me ideas to...

Hi everyone.
We have a problem here... Hope somebody can give us some hints.
We have a HP ProLiant DL180 G6 Server with a Debian/Lenny sytem.
Asterisk 1.4.21.2 (1.4.21.2~dfsg-3+lenny1) with zaptel (1.4.11) and
libpri (1.4.3) is installed.
There is a QuadBRI-Card installed:

8-15 TB storage: any recommendations?
Hello everyone,
This is not directly related to CentOS but still: we are trying to set up
some storage servers to run under Linux - most likely CentOS. The storage
volume would be in the range specified: 8-15 TB. Any recommendations as far
as hardware?
Thanks.
Boris.

CentOS 5.x and HP ACU CLI
I had to install C5 on a dev server for various reasons (legacy system
support and so forth). This dev server is a HP DL180 G6, with a
SmartArray P410 raid card... I've installed hpacucli via the RPM from
HP's site, but its not finding the controller... C5 (64 bit) is using
the default CCISS drivers for this card.
# hpacucli ctrl all show config
Error: No controllers detected.

More than 2TB RAID...
Hi,
I just received a new server (HP DL180G5) with 12x 1TB HDs and I bumped into fdisks 2TB limits...
Since this is an entry level server, I can't use the classic HP bootable utilities to create smaller volumes et can only create a big RAID6.
I found out that: using parted, labelling it gpt and creating the partitions would do the trick...

CentOS 6.5 install
Hello, I'm a newbie so here's my question.
I'm trying to install CentOS 6.5 on a HP Proliant 350e server. This server
has 4x 1TB hard drives. I'd like to enable the hardware RAID 5 and stripe
all 4 disk into one 3TB logical volume. Then install CentOS on the 3TB
volume. However after I install I can't get the server to boot.
I know about the MDOS vs GPT labeling issue.

Please advise on very fast search
Hello,
I try to create some kind of mail backup system. What I need is system
that will store mail for the whole domain, and allow me to restore
messages from/to specified email at that domain.
The scheme is pretty simple: on our main mail server the SMTP server
itself has a rule to send a copy of every message to
'backup at backupserver.host', and the backupserver.host domain is

Slow RAID Check/high %iowait during check after updgrade from CentOS 6.5 -> CentOS 7.2
...176? ? ? ?11? ? ? active sync set-B? ?/dev/sdl
We've tried changing the I/O scheduler, queue_depth, queue_type, read-ahead, etc, but nothing has helped. We've also upgraded all of the firmware, and installed HP's mpt2sas driver.
We have 4 other Kafka clusters, however they're HP DL180 G6 servers. We completed the same CentOS 6.5 -> 7.2/Kafka 0.8 -> 0.9 upgrade on those clusters, and there has been no impact to their performance.
We've been banging our heads against the wall for a few weeks now, really hoping someone from the community can point us in the right directi...
