Samba 3.4 authentication suddenly very slow.
After a scheduled power outage, with all hosts cleanly shut down, I'm having a bad performance issue on my samba server. This configuration has worked well for over a year, but after the power outage, attempting to access any share takes over a minute. net ads testjoin is fine, wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g returns the correct information. The shares CAN be accessed, once accessed, read and write

hard disk install failure
Has anybody successfully installed CentOS- I tried (several times) installing CentOS-5.6 from a hard disk, and each time it failed after installing all the rpms, with the warning "The installation has tried to mount image #2, but cannot find it on the hard drive." When I pressed the Debug button one time after the failure, it seemed to say that it was looking for the file in

Weird, sudden 3.4 problem.
We've had basically no issues with an older samba 3.4 installation working with Win 7, but suddenly this morning, "homes" shares are acting strange. I can create new folders, I can create new documents. However, any attempt to rename the newly created file gives me access denied problems. I can edit and save the file if it's text, from notepad, but Word and Excel documents fail

Init.d script troubleshooting.
I got a strange problem with init.d scripts on a fully updated (as of today) fresh install of 5.5 x64. I've written a script, /etc/init.d/Fast that starts a fairly large and slow commercial application, by calling that applications control binary to do the actual work. I "registered" the script, via chkconfig --add Fast, and the symlinks are in the expected places. [root at
