fsck looping duplicate mdbox GUIDs
...ntu package on 16.04.
It appears that I have a couple of duplicate GUIDs which fsck can't
clear so the machine is looping through doing continuous fsck runs.
Any way to determine what the offending messages are and how to delete
or otherwise stop this?

dovecot immediately exits on Fedora 2
I "upgraded" my server running UW-IMAP on Fedora 1,
to Fedora 2, which defaults to Dovecot. Unfortunately,
the server refuses connecions from my client (Mozilla).
It seems that Dovecot immediately exits:
ps aux|grep dovecot shows nothing.
Also, if I manually start up dovecot, it immediately
exits, with no messages. (It does at least parse the
config file, since tweaking that gives me

Default domain ?
Hello,
I'm in the process of migrating from qpopper to dovecot and I've
stumbled upon the least expected thing:
In qpopper I can specify a 'default domain', which will be used if an
user will only issue his username (not the whole email address) when
logging in. Because of this, the users in my main domain don't use the
whole email address when getting their mail.
I'd

can't see IMAP folders - Fedora Core 2
Recently, I upgraded (switched) to Fedora Core 2. Previously, I was
running Fedora Core 1, with Cyrus-IMAP, and life was good. Now, I can
not see any of my folders. I suspect it is a simple dovecot.conf
configuration edit, but i'm not experienced enough with it to make the
correct edits.
I am using Postfix with Dovecot. My mail directory is;
/home/(user)/mail

CONNECTION_REFUSED
Hello,
I am using Samba 4.0.5 and got this kind of error messages in samba.log
(loglevel 2).
While this happens getent passwd shows no domain users, but everyone could
reach all of the shares.
Any idea what could cause this kind of error messages?

Corrupted index file
Hi,
I've been wondering for a while if reiserfs is dovecot+maildir safe or
not. I get this too often (and my imap session gets disconnected):
Jun 9 08:42:32 sun imap(nk): Corrupted index file
/home/nk/Maildir/.INBOX/.imap
.index: UIDVALIDITY changed in uidlist
This happens always when a new mail arrives in maildir.
It's a Fedora Core 2 box running dovecot-0.99.10.4-4 (redhat) package.

vestigial DNS entries
I am running samba 4.2.0 as an AD with internal DNS.
I had an earlier version of Samba4 that was running old code and the system
had gotten cluttered up from my learning process. I chose to replace it by
bringing up a new Samba4 DC, letting them sync, then promote the new, and
demote the old. That all worked flawlessly. Eventually I destroyed the
old Samba4 system.
Today I tried to play

folders via softlink
I have recently switched from the UW imap server to dovecot and things
seem to be working nicely. One thing that I can't seem to figure out
however, is how to get dovecot to show folders that are a softlink.
We run SpamAssassin. Users can use both their own personal spam folder
as well as a shared spam folder. For messages that everyone would
consider spam, the user can simply drag the

more than two way replication
Is there anyway of replicating between more than one other instance of
Dovecot. I have bidirectional replication working successfully and it
seems to be reliable. I would like to replicate from one or more of
these instances to one other. Is this possible?

known_hosts and multiple hosts through a NAT router
The .ssh/known_hosts table cannot handle reaching different sshd
servers behind a NAT router. The machines are selected by having
the SSHDs respond to differnt ports.
A second request would be to allow known_hosts checking solely on
the dns name, wildcarding the IP address. This would be useful
to avoid continuously warning the user every time you connect
to a machine with a changing IP address
